Weak Itchy Scalp
Is this psoriasis or ringworm? and suggest some tips to overcome?
Small red bumps on scalp which are very painful and at times are itchy . These bumps after few days gets dried and turns into flaky stuff..removing the hair on it, the hair around it becomes weak....the bumps appear mostly on the crown of the head...and back side....after few days a small patch forms without hair.
Psoriasis is very itchy. The word psoriasis comes from the greek word "to itch". If it is psoriasis, you need to see a dermatologist. Get it under control before it gets you. I am a sufferer. I was 95% covered. Am currently under medication and am 97% clear. Psoriasis is a buildup of dry skin and will flake, crack and bleed. Very painful at times. If it is just on your scalp, you can try some coal tar shampoo. It stinks like hell, but helps some. Good luck. If you are interested and your problem increases, it can be VERY depressing. I know some very good online support groups that help. They help me.

dry, itchy, flaky scalp issues... help please!?
The top-front of my head has been itchy and flaky for about a year now and I have been washing with Head & Shoulders every 2-3 days to try and control the dandruff but it hasn't worked.
When the itch starts, its REALLY addictive and satifsying but obviously that has made my hairline noticably thinner and the hairs in this area are course and damaged-looking and thin and weak. The hair on the rest of my head are fine. Occasionally they will itch but its not so intense. Its just the top-front mostly.
What can I do for this? I was thinking of seeing my Doc but I thought of asking you guys first bcuz I have heard of stuff u can buy over the counter at pharmacies but I'm not sure whether they work. Any advice anyone? Thanks

Over the counter- Nizoral, ingredient Pyrithione Zinc, Tar shampoos, Tea Tree products
You should ask your MD though because it could be related to something else like your thyroid.
