Tablets Treat Alopecia

where do i find melatonin?
my dog is beginning to suffer from seasonal flank alopecia, i know that by taking melatonin orally, it could help treating the disease. I LIVE IN TORONTO where do i find these tablets?
I LIVE IN TORONTO
Melatonin is a hormone. I don't believe they sell any hormones OTC in Canada.
It is available OTC in the states. Most of the health food store's Melatonin is actually made from cherries. It occurs naturally in the fruit.

| | Traction Alopecia $90.81 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia, or gradual hair loss, caused primarily by pulling force being applied to the hair. This commonly results from the sufferer frequently wearing his/her hair in a particularly tight ponytail, pigtails, or braids. It is also seen occasionally in longhaired toy dogs whose owners use barrettes to keep hair out of the dogs faces. Traction alopecia is a substantial risk in hair weaves, which can be worn either to conceal hair loss, or purely for cosmetic purposes. The former, such as those sold in the U.S. by Hair Club, involve creating a braid around the head below the existing hairline, to which an extendedwear hairpiece, or wig, is attached. Since the hair of the braid is still growing, it requires frequent maintenance, which involves the hairpiece being removed, the natural hair braided again, and the piece snugly reattached. The tight braiding and snug hairpiece cause tension on the hair that is already at risk for falling out. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. | | Androgenic Alopecia $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Androgenic alopecia is a common form of hair loss in both female and male humans, chimpanzees, and orangutans. In male humans in particular, this condition is also commonly known as male pattern baldness. Hair is lost in a welldefined pattern, beginning above both temples. Hair also thins at the crown of the head. Often a rim of hair around the sides and rear of the head is left, or the condition may progress to complete baldness. The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male pattern baldness. In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Androgenic alopecia in women rarely leads to total baldness. Cure For Baldness - Propecia
Dog allergic to collars?
My Staffy bitch is allergic to lots of things - foods, treats, bones, dewormer tablets, medicines the list goes on and on...
When she was a pup she had reactions to everything except our friend's rotty's old puppy collar which is leather and she's been fine with it since, thing is it's ancient and looks set to fall apart soon so we'd got her a new leather one and she came up in rashes and lumps so we got a swede backing put on it - same reaction, we've tried nylon, coated leather, plain leather, pretty much all the collars the pet shop has and a couple off websites, still it's only this old skanky one she doesn't react to.
Anyone had this problem before or know of a good material? She's mainly bald just now (seasonal alopecia) but this happened when she had hair too
She may have not reacted to your friend's dog's old collar because it was so worn that any chemical or material that she was allergic to on the collar had worn off. You could try to soak the collar in an oatmeal dog shampoo (one your dog is not allergic to). This may help to remove anything that is on it that is making your dog react. It may look warn after you've washed it, but if it helps, that's all that matters. You could always start asking around if anybody has an old collar that would fit your dog.
Other than that, you could try a metal collar. I'm not a fan of choke chains, but if that is the only thing that your dog doesn't react to, then when she is in the house have it on her so that you can use it if you need to hold on to her. If you are comfortable without having a collar on her in the house, then just use the new leather collar only when you take her outside. When she is inside leave it off to let her skin breath. She may eventually wear it in enough that she doesn't react to it.
Good luck!
