I need help finding an enclosure for my MTX subwoofers.?
I have pair of 12" MTX Jackhammers. They're my pride and joy. Theyre powered by a Kicker 750.1 Amp. The box I have allows for a great amount of sound to come out, but it vibrates a lot when the subs hit, which totally destroys the sound quality I get. They hit plenty hard, so theres more than enough noise... but theres some distortion that I can tell is coming from the box. I need some advice on what type of box I should have for these. Ported, sealed? Some specific boxes would work the best for my search. I want something that is very stylish, while also sounding great. Thank you for whatever help you can give. I know a lot about the wiring and power supply and that sort of stuff, but I know almost nothing about the enclosures.
There are a couple of reasons that you have distortion from your enclosure. The first reason I would guess, if you box is ported, would be port noise. This means that the port has too small of a cross sectional area. This results in a high air velocity through the port which causes the noise you may be hearing. To fix this you would get an enclosure with a port that has a larger cross sectional area.
Another reason could be that the enclosure itself is vibrating too much. That means that the enclosure is not braced or built correctly. This could result in the sound you are hearing.
It could also be that the sound is coming from your sub and not the enclosure itself. This could be caused by having your gain set too high. Make sure the gain is set properly and you will not hear it anymore.
You should get an enclosure custom built for your subs. That is the only way to get the most out of your subs. It will also allow for the enclosure to be personalized to the sound you are looking for.
Ported or sealed, it is up to what sound you want. Ported will give you more output while sealed will be better for tight bass. It also depends on whether your subs work better in ported or sealed. Your subs will work in either type of enclosure so you can decide based on what sound you are looking for.
A local car audio shop will be able to custom make you an enclosure. That will get you better sound then a prefab enclosure ever will.

Getting the best sound out of your car amp-PART 1
Stocking up on insulin, for long term storage.?
I KNOW that you are only supposed to use insulin for 30 days after it has been opened. I am not looking for tips on how to control my diabetes, I am diabetic who undestands my disease and control my blood sugars well. I am looking to stock up on insulin and have a large supply in my fridge in case of disaster or something like that, where I would need to have my own supply of insulin for a long period of time. I am wondering what would be the best way to go about doing this. What kind of insulin lasts the longest, and so forth. And I would be storing it unopened with the seal still on.
While it is always a good idea to have extra supplies durring disaster times (hurricanes, blizzards, etc), you can't stock up years worth of insulin (it does have an expiration date for a reason, even when refridgerated).
