Structure Shampoo

A few questions before BCT?

1. Can anyone recommend a good structured workout routine to use to get into shape before BCT? I'm doing things on my own and PT in DEP, but I need something extra that will really push me.
2. Can I bring sunscreen to BCT? (I'm shipping 20090527 to FLW)
3. Since I wear glasses/contacts, should I bring either or both? I know I will be issued BCGs, but do I need to bring my civilian glasses/contacts?
4. Does my hair need to be in regulation when I ship out? (I'm a girl and can do a sock bun)
5. It says to bring 1 oz of shampoo, is this just to last you in reception? Do they provide you shampoo at BCT? (My hair is past my shoulders)
6. What time is lights out and wake up generally? Or is there a sample BCT schedule anywhere? (I tried googling but couldn't find anything.)
7. Any other tips before shipping out. I know I don't leave for a while, but I want to be as prepared as I can.

1. Yes, go to apft.net and get a good structured workout. Work on push-ups, sit-ups, and your run. Time yourself and make sure your structure is good. Have your recruiter tell you if your structure is ok. Also, do your practice test at 5 am.

2. No. It will be provided to you.

3. No contacts and you can bring your civilian glasses but you won't get to wear them until after you graduate BCT.

4. No, your hair does not have to be in regulation when you ship out. However, keep in mind that if the 1st drill sergeant to greet you is a woman, she will find one girl who stands out to pick on. Her thing is make her cry to intimidate the rest. Make sure your hair is one natural color.

5. No, they don't provide you with shampoo. But they advance you some money so you are forced to buy regulation shampoo. This is to avoid arousing the males with scented shampoo.

6. Lights out is generally at 9 pm but it can be as late as midnight. The army is regulated to give you at least 4 hours of sleep and it does not have to be consecutive hours. Wake up is usually at 4:00 am to 5:00 am. You will do pt and then you will shower and go to chow.

7. LEARN YOUR RANK by looking at them. Know the military alphabet. Kick the habit of smoking, sleeping pills, etc. Drink lots of water and for a while you will not be allowed milk, soda, or any sweets. Get the withdrawals out of the way now. Be prepared to be put down for a while. It is only to break you down to build you up. Don't take it personal. They are looking for a weakness.

Keep in mind this is not a natural way to live. The rest of your time in the army will be considerably better.

any good straightening products?

i have had straight long hair all my life until a couple of months ago when it started to go curly and i dont like curly hair and it dosent go good with my facial structure and i normanally blow dry it to get it to go straight but its time consuming and it leaves my hair frizzy so are there any good straightning shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays or anything else that works and i dont wanna use gell cuz its too goupy

i have the same problem. i hate my now curly hair (although i have learned to make it look good) but if you buy an oil base frizz control and put a small amount (like dime size, or your hair will look greasy) in your hair before you straighten (after blowdrying) and then after its striaghtened put a silicon base mousse or texturizing cream in your hair it will prevent it from becoming pouffy and frizzy despite humidity and other external factors throughout the day.
