Selling Hair System
who of you that bought a computer within the last 3 months feels cheated by VISTA being "the only" OS?
my computer user clients are going bonkers! they purchased new computers loaded with the MS VISTA operating system as "the only available operating system" if they wanted to buy their computer! now they are tearing out their hair trying to simply perform daily tasks!
do you feel that you got sold down the river when no salesperson offered to get a tower (box) built for you to include windows XP instead of VISTA?
do you know how many major corporations issued directives to their purchasers of IT equipment to NOT, under any circumstances, get VISTA because the workers would not be able to do their work due to the VISTA beta state?
how do you, as a buyer of a new computer, feel? will you return the box and get a company such as dell to build you a box with the tried and true windows xp? (i recommend professional, not home edition). if it were me, i'd back up all my files and get that box back to that store in a minute flat.
dell also offers linux OS now...
i have answered tons of question about vista. people want to know why this and that doesn't work, yet they still go out and buy it for their other computers and get their friends to get it. i guess what i am saying is people are stupid these days. if one jumps off a bridge, you can bet the rest will follow.

ICE gives access to geometry data without scripting and it is fast. I wouldn't call it an addon
. Of course there is still room for improvement as it is a rather young system. I agree, Houdini VOPs are much more “embedded” in Houdini as you can use VEX everywhere. ICE doesn't work with xsi hair system and xsi compositing system for example. And of course it doesn't work to write some shaders like in Houdini.
Just be honest and tell her on your first date. You really don't want to invest any time in someone that's shallow. Best to know right off how she'll react. Good luck.
