| | Traction Alopecia $90.81 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia, or gradual hair loss, caused primarily by pulling force being applied to the hair. This commonly results from the sufferer frequently wearing his/her hair in a particularly tight ponytail, pigtails, or braids. It is also seen occasionally in longhaired toy dogs whose owners use barrettes to keep hair out of the dogs faces. Traction alopecia is a substantial risk in hair weaves, which can be worn either to conceal hair loss, or purely for cosmetic purposes. The former, such as those sold in the U.S. by Hair Club, involve creating a braid around the head below the existing hairline, to which an extendedwear hairpiece, or wig, is attached. Since the hair of the braid is still growing, it requires frequent maintenance, which involves the hairpiece being removed, the natural hair braided again, and the piece snugly reattached. The tight braiding and snug hairpiece cause tension on the hair that is already at risk for falling out. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. | | Androgenic Alopecia $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Androgenic alopecia is a common form of hair loss in both female and male humans, chimpanzees, and orangutans. In male humans in particular, this condition is also commonly known as male pattern baldness. Hair is lost in a welldefined pattern, beginning above both temples. Hair also thins at the crown of the head. Often a rim of hair around the sides and rear of the head is left, or the condition may progress to complete baldness. The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male pattern baldness. In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Androgenic alopecia in women rarely leads to total baldness. DALLAS HAIR LOSS:NON-SCARRING ALOPECIA, ALOPECIA AREATA,ETC
Five Ways To Help Prevent Hair Loss
Losing hair everyday is a normal part of hair growth cycle. The hair constitutes of 90% in a growing stage and 10% in a resting phase, which is lost every 2 to 3 months. Hair loss tends to get noticed when the loss is beyond the usual limit. Why does hair loss take place? There are several reasons for this, including: Alopecia areata. Affects both males and females; hair loss is rapid and the most common pattern is one or more spots of hair loss on the scalp. When there is a mal-function of the immune system the intrinsic white cells attack the hair follicles and result in this ailment. When all the scalp hair is lost it is called Alopecia Totalis. Alopecia Universalis is a rather uncommon condition where all the hair of the body is lost.
Hereditary factors: This can affect 25% of men by the time they are 30 years of age. It is called male pattern baldness. Over and above the reason being genetic, it could also be due to testosterone the male hormone. One of the functions of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is produced by the conversion of testosterone, causes impairment or stoppage of hair growth and produces short and weak hair. Men who do not have testosterone do not get male pattern baldness.
Skin diseases: yet another cause for hair loss, which affects the scalp. Dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, scalp fungus such as ringworm and tinea captis are some of the ailments caused by skin diseases.
Sudden illness or fever: after any serious illness or fever, you could experience large chunks of hair falling out. This is generally a temporary condition however.
Childbirth, menopause, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and aging could also be the other reasons for hair loss. Though these are the primary reasons for hair loss, there could be several others also.
Successful hair loss treatments are available where you not only stop hair loss but re-grow your hair too. Some ways you could treat hair loss naturally are:
1. Vitamins A, B, C and E are hair promoters. Include them in the diet. What is the importance of these vitamins? They not only provide sebum, they also help in increase of blood circulation to the scalp by absorbing more oxygen and collagen.
2. Importance of scalp care: Remember to massage your scalp regularly with herbal oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, amla oil. Some conditions of alopecia areata can be effectively treated with essential oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender and cedar wood.
3. Avoid scalp abuse - Avoid daily use of chemical shampoos and blow-drying. Hair and scalp get damaged by chemical treatments such as coloring and straightening. Even washing your hair daily with hot water will cause it to get stripped of natural oils and make it dry and brittle.
4. Using herbal care: Using powders of amla, shikakai, henna and ritha as shampoo and conditioner can be an effective treatment. If you are looking for a powerful anti-oxidant, which can prevent graying, and hair loss, you would get it in amla powder, which is the richest source of natural vitamin C. If you want a hair cleanser, which cleanses without depriving your hair of its natural oils, go for Shikakai, also known as the Fruit for hair. It has a natural low pH. Henna then acts as a natural conditioner.
5. Reduce stress: Take the help of exercises and meditation to reduce stress levels, which is another factor in hair loss. Quit the Cancer Stick: The nicotine blocks the blood passage to the scalp, reducing blood supply to this region. To avoid damage to the scalp avoid UV rays from sun exposure.
