How to get smokey eyes with purple eyeshadow?
I wanted to create a purple smokey eye look using maybelline's berriful or crown jewls eye shadow trio. I was wondering in order to create smokey eyes is using a purple or black eyeliner would make it come out more smokey looking( cause i'm a high school student and i'm not use to wearing make-up and i'm not sure if purple eyeliner would be to much)I don't know if this helps but I'm more of a chocolate complexion(black) with brown eyes and off black hair.
Can you wear smokey eyes in the spring or is it all year round?
Also is covergirl or maybelline a good brand to use? I'm on a budget.
The thing about dramatic eyes is that you have to use the right tools and you have to layer and practice.
I worked for Clinique for several years and so most of the product I will mention is by Clinique...I will specify if otherwise.
Touch tint for eyes in Sable Shimmer (this is a good color for darker skin and can be used with purple) all over...it is a base that will smooth out the eye area and keep you eyeshadow on all day and true to color. This is the key to it looking smooth and shiny.
My next step is a little unconventional...I use the dark first. The reason for this is doing a light color over top smooths out any inperfections and keeps it from looking muddy. So do the dark in the crease. More to the outside if your eyes are close together and more to the inside if your eyes are further apart.
Then sweep the lighter color all over. Use a highlighter under the brow and in the center corner of the eye...I like Sugar Sugar eyeshadow (this will be very dramatic on your skintone, so you could use something a little more nude if it is too much).
The key to a smooth eyeliner line is to use a gel that looks like a pencil Quickliner in Really Black will give great definition. Put the eyeliner at the base of the lash and go back and forth in really small strokes. Do not try to do one line across or try to do a line above the lash, you will end up with a space. Smudge this and do again for a smokey eye. On the bottom lash use the pencil to make little dots in-between the lashes and connect the dots.
My favorite mascara is covergirl Volumesomething in the red tube. I don't really care for any of the Clinique ones. Do two coats focusing on the outer lashes and you are done.
As far as Spring trend the smokey eye is useally too much so you may want to tone it down a little...of course if it is an evening formal event this is appropriate.
