Question about PCOS and Hair Loss?
Im a 26 year old and have had irregular periods since I was 13, I only discovered that I had PCOS when I was 24 and that too when my long thick hair started falling out like crazy. I have always been a chubby kid and I have fat only around my stomach, my arms n legs r really thin! Ive recently gone on a low carb, high protein / fibre diet and have started working out every day. I guess Ill have to wait for results but my only question is : will my hair ever grow back if I get my system back into place? If I lose weight, start having regular periods? Are the symptoms reversed in PCOS? No one has been able to answer this question, I had started minoxydil in between but nothing works really. My hair is greasy every day and had now started thinning quite a bit. I must mention that its a genetic problem too since both my sisters had PCOS but nevr had it treated or lost weight. I always had long thick hair growing up. Can someone help? Im quite worried! Thanks
By PCOS I assume you mean Polycystic ovary syndrome. The problem with your acne, unexplained weight gain is probably due to in increase in the hormone called androgen, which also can pause ovulation and put you in a hormonal wreck. Your Dr.

what I think you should do; Go to your GP or endocrine specialist and tell them of your symptoms. Obviously you current medication is throwing your hormones out of wack by you having missed periods and acne. Once you get on the right medication and dosage I think it will be fine. But they will need to do blood tests to see your hormone imbalances before they make a medication change.
what you need to do; keep in touch with your physician and tell him/her of any changes you see in your menstruation and well being, and they will be able to answer.
