The Truth About Olive Oil Facial Cleansers
Have you ever imagined having beautiful, clear skin? Well, a good cleanser is a first step! Are olive oil facial cleansers a good choice? First of all, there is no need to buy a cleanser that claims to contain olive oil. If you suffer from excessive dryness and you want to give your skin a treat, you can use what you already have in your kitchen. Here's how to do it.
You need extra virgin olive oil, some clean white clothes and a tub of water, heated to a temperature that you find comforting. Give the steam from the tub a few minutes to open your pores. Soak one of the white towels in the water, while you are waiting. Relax and let the water soothe your aching body.
After the towel is saturated, take your bottle of oil and pore a quarter-sized amount in the palm of one hand. Take the fingers of your other hand and dip them in the oil. Massage your face and repeat until the oil is all gone. Take the saturated cloth and put it over your face. Then lean back and relax.
You can take as much time as you like. Olive oil facial cleansers are not fast acting. When you are ready, remove the cloth and put it aside. Take one of the other cloths and moisten it. Use that cloth to massage your entire face and neck. If you would like, you can use the first cloth, which will be slightly oily, to massage the rest of your body. You will find that this is a luxurious way to pamper yourself. But, is this something that is beneficial for your skin's health and appearance?
You need a good daily cleanser. It should be mild, but not oily. You need to wash your face in the morning and if you wear makeup, you need to wash again at night. Even if you don't wear makeup, washing away the pollution and grime that you are exposed to every day is a good idea. Olive oil facial cleansers are probably not the best choice for this purpose, but it depends on what other ingredients the cleanser contains. I recommend a naturally organic and definitely paraben free one.
Once you have washed your face, whether it is in the morning or at night, you should follow up with a moisturizer. This is critical! Most of the moisturizers on the market will leave a greasy feeling. They usually contain petrolatum or mineral oil, which is not absorbed by the skin's layers.
Even if you do decide to use olive oil facial cleansers, you still need to use an effective moisturizer. Simply using hot water washes away protective oils. It is necessary to replace them or you risk the damage that wind and sun can do.
Now that you know all this, I personally use and recommend grape seed as the best choice for use during the day. Avocado and Shea butter work well at night. All of these natural extracts provide antioxidants, essential fatty acids and other nutrients that the skin's cells need. They can protect your appearance for years to come, if used on a regular basis. What can olive oil facial cleansers do? That's debatable.
