Applying a relaxer without getting chemical on the scalp?
I'm about to apply a relaxer for the first time ever. I've had tons of them done by professionals, but I've never applied it myself. Everything I read says you should not get any relaxer on the scalp. How is this possible? I always feel the relaxer on my scalp (which is protected by a base).
I think it's okay to get some of the relaxer on the scalp, but wash it out once it starts burning/stinging.

On-scalp bleaching with 40 volume developer...?
Ok, so I know you're not supposed to do it. At all. But I have medium brown hair that goes orange with a regular home-bleach and I'm determined to just try for an actual platinum for once. (Don't worry about my hair, it's short and I can just cut it off.)
So I have a professional lightener, activator and 40 volume developer, and even though I'm not too worried about my roots some of it is bound to get on my scalp.
Quite honestly - any experience with this? Did you have to remove your scalp after or what happened?
Ok, I know you don't actually have to remove your scalp.
How bad irritation have you experienced or seen - blistering? Sores?
By home bleach I mean at-home hair bleaching kits from the drug store, not, you know, chlorine.
Er....Your not going to get scalped because you got bleach on your scalp. The most it'll do is burn your skin if you have OFF the scalp bleach. On the scalp, It's fine to get on your skin...and I really don't suggest 40 volume to someone who isn't a hairstylist. 40 volume is extremely harsh on your hair and processes faster. I'd only use that for colored black hair. And really, Of course at home regular bleach is going to turn your hair orange...It's NOT MEANT FOR YOUR HAIR.
Your hair may be short and you can just cut it off...But what happens when you overprocess your hair and your ends up breaking off short, and you have to just shave your hair off in order for it to look even remotely decent?
