Nutrient Original Formula
e.coli exponential growth problem, what am i doing wrong?
Okay, so I have found the correct formula for this problem, but for some reason I must be doing something wrong, because I can't get the right answer. Here is the Original Problem, and I will go through what I did:
A common inhabitant of human intestines is the bacterium Escherichia coli. A cell of this bacterium in a nutrient-broth medium divides into two cells every 20 minutes. The initial population of a culture is 55 cells.
a) find relative growth rate. k= 2.08 (thats right)
b) Find an expression for the number of cells after t hours. = P(t)=55e^(2.08t) (this is right)
now, for c) it asks: Find the number of cells after 5 hours
________ billion cells. however, the number I am getting by just plugging it into the calculator, is 1807279.412. So i divided it by 1000, and said that it is 1807.279 billion. Is this wrong?
Also, how do I find the rate of growth after 5 hours?
I feel like I must be doing something kind of stupid, because it seems smile enough. Thanks!

can anyone help me w/ my thin hair?
so i posted a question like this a couple of months ago and followed what people told me..i got trims every month making sure the hair stylist knew i was growing my hair..i still take vitamins called "shen min, hair nutrient, original formula" i even looked for shampoo that strengthens and grows hair.. i also ate healthy...i didnt color it and instead of straightening my hair everyday, i blew dried it three times a week..and my hair grew about one inch and i think it got thinner than before...does anyone know anything else i could do to make my hair grow faster and thicker? i really appreciate it thanks (:
If you're trying to grow your hair out, don't get your hair trimmed 1" every month, it's cutting off what just grew, thus getting you know where, you're just keeping your hair the same length. Instead, get it cut 1" every 3 months, that will give it time to grow & get rid of some dead ends. You cannot make your hair grow thicker, but you can make it appear thicker by using hair thickening products. Try Amplify products (by Matrix), or Body Full products (by Redken). Blow drying the hair will "fluff" up the cuticle making the hair appear thicker. Tip your head upside down, blow dry, spray in some hair spray, then flip your head back up & style. To make your hair healthier & to try to help it grow faster, you need to take a daily multivitamin, drink lots of water, eat healthy, & massage your scalp. It will take time, this isn't going to happen right away.
*straightening the hair will make it appear thinner
*getting a perm will give you texture making your hair appear thicker
*getting your hair colored (not bleached) makes the hair a little bit thicker because color molecules go into the hair shaft, plumping it up a little.
