Mos Supply
My husband is changing his MOS in the army?
He reupped for a change of MOS. he is going to AIT in MAY to reclass as a 92Y (unit supply) Will he get time after he graduates to come get us from Ft Stewart, or will we be expected to PCS without him? Since he is reclassing and we are changing duty stations, I don't know how it works or what to expect. Also can anyone tell me how long it takes to reclass as a 92y? Is the class 8 weeks like the normal ait all over again?
He is NOT going to regular AIT he is going to transistional AIT. He will be allowed lodging, per diem and will be given a plane ticket out there. His S3 will handle of that for him.
Yes, The school is only 8 weeks long and he has to do the whole thing because none of it is part of BCT all of it is AIT training.
Here is what's going to happen when it comes to his orders.
He will get order they can come one of two ways in this case.
They can have both his school and his follow on (the most likely way that they will come) or they can just have his school on them and his follow on assignment will be a separate set on orders this is NOT likely to be the way they are done unless there is an issue with his assignment.
Either way the school orders WILL say that He will go to AIT on what is called TDY en-return.
He will go to AIT then return to his unit, clear his unit, post then PCS to his new duty station.
He will report to his new duty station by the date on his orders.
Sign in and go through in processing just like any other PCS move you've done before. Having changes MOS's doesn't change any of this.
My husbands did this not even a year ago and is getting read to do it again (funny enough to 92Y and is going in April) so I've been through this once already getting ready to go through it again. I had his orders right in front of me as I answered the question. If you have additional questions just ask.
