I had a root canal done on a bottom molar two months ago due to sensitivity to cold and sweets. After the initial pain (a few days) subsided, I noticed that it was sensitive to touch - no sensitivity to colds or sweets. I didn't chew on this tooth at all. It hurts more when I floss from the back side of the tooth pushing forward on the tooth. I also had a crown put on three weeks ago and the sensitivity seems to have increased since. Perhaps this is due to pressure from top teeth touching the crown.
I was wondering what the cause of this could be. My dentist told me that sometimes it takes up to half a year for a root canal treatment to heal completely. Could this be a fractured tooth? Or just the tissues beneath the tooth taking their time to heal? Thanks for your advice!
the root canal could be bad or your teeth are moving to a part were it is pushing on the roots under the teeth. contact your dentist and have him/her look at it. well since you did that, your roots may just be taking there time to heal which is a normal thing but i still would have your dentist take an x-ray of your teeth to see if there is a fracture or if your teeth root heads have moved to close together.
