Months Supply Womens
What do I pack to take me and my boys to the Women's center (shelter)?
I am going to the womens center with my 2 boys (ages 2 and 2 months) and I have a few questions...
1) What do I bring with me?
2) am i allowed electronics?
3) am i allowed communication? (phone, internet, guests)
4) Do we get our own room or is it one big community room?
5) Is food supplied?
6) what if I run out of supplies for my boys? (diapers, wipes, formula, ect)
7) what about transportation? (for drs. appointments ect.)
**** I dont have a Phone ****
I have been to one of these with my two (then) very young daughters. This is what I experienced, it should be close to the same:
You get your own room. It will be a room with enough beds (or cribs) as you need. You will be able to go and come as you like (you wont be a prisoner) but there is a curfew and you will need to sign out when you leave with what your expected time of return will be and where you are going. if you dont come back they will call the police to make sure your perpertrator did not find you. There is a kitchen of food so you can cook for you and your kids. Some people end up there with nothing with them, they will give you clothes, diapers, whatever you need until you get on your feet. You will be given an amount of time you can stay there (mine was 6 weeks) and chores to do. You will share a living room with a tv, maybe a playroom, etc with the other women that live there. You will be required to attend counseling there one on one and group therapy sessions, so will the kids if they are school age or older. They will not provide transportation but mine provided a bus pass to those without cars. There is a phone for everyone to use. It will look like a house, it will be comforting and you will feel relieved after about a week. Good Luck. Love, Draya
