My Doctors won't listen!!!?

Ok..I have this really bad problem in eyes. They are completely dry no natural lubricating tears...only when i cry. I have to put lubricating gel because the eye drops simple don't work for me and even the gel 5 times a day won't do it for me. I already went to 3 doctors complaining of my eye dryness. One told me that the tear film was inadequate in one eye and I needed moisture ASAP She gave the gel I'm using now but it doesn't work!!!! What can I do? I suffer I lot!!!

I have a lot of problems with my eyes. I had 8 strokes and have seen 3 eye doctors. An optician is the doctor that you see that does simple tests on your eyes so that you can get glasses. An opthamologist is a doctor who does the more difficult tests such as checking your eyes for diseases and surgeries for cateracts and things. In my case, I had surgery done to correct a strabismus ( or crossed eyes) which can happen after a stroke when the optic nerve or in my case it was both eyes become paralyzed ( 4th nerve paresis). I also had to see a neuro- opthamologist because my sight went double a year after the surgery ( back to where it was ) and she told me the reason was because of brain damage not because of my 4th nerves being paralyzed and also my 3rd nerve is crushed which they failed to catch. Nothing can be done for me. She is the 4th doctor I have been to. Don't give up. I also have a soft tissue disease and one of the signs of that is very dry eyes. See if you can get to another doctor and demand that he or she give you a a test for lupus, reumatoid arthritis, test your thyroid and the like. Any of these disorders can make your eyes, hair , skin and nails dry. Have you been tired? Missing hair? Anemic? Don't let them dismiss you dear and good luck in finding the cause. It could also be something as simple as a blocked tear duct. That is a simple amblutory surgery. You're in and out in the same day! You're eyes will water like crazy with that! My daughter had that and it took two docs to finally get a straight answer. Keep trying and God Bless!
