Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo & color-treated hair?
I have a dandruff-prone scalp (due to a thyroid deficiency, not a hygiene issue). My hair is average thickness, naturally chestnut brown but currently highlighted (and low-lighted) blonde. I have it professionally done at a high-end salon.
My sweet husband talked to his hairdresser (nice girl, but works still working on her clientele) about my hair and she sold him two huge bottles of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and Leave-in conditioner. I used it a couple of times and my hair seemed to dull and my scalp got extremely flaky. Is this a typical result of this shampoo?
What type of hair is this product intended for? Will it damage or strip my color? Knowledgeable hair stylists please help! I hurt my hubby's feelings by not using the stuff he brought home...
Tea Tree is really intended as more of itch relief from scalp conditions, not a treatment for them, although some people think it treats it cuz they'll see less flakes that's because they're scratching less. It should be okay for your highlights, but might strip the color from the lowlights.
