(Male or Female Flowering Tree) dioecious VS monoecious?
I'm already having a Golden Medallion (Yellow flower tree) and a Carrotwood tree, i'm thinking to get a Jacaranda Tree that produce Lavender flower. I know there are male and female tree, or they are called dioecious VS monoecious which i learned from the following link:
http://www.clevelandseniors.com/home/tomtsex.htm
In my case, i;m thinking to get a Jacaranda, Is Jacaranda tree a Monoecious Tree? meaning the male and female flowers are on the same tree? if it is Monoecious, then my question is resolve, but if it is not, then how can i tell from male to female tree? sometimes i notice some of the tree have more flower over the others, is it becos of the "gender"??
I'm not sure should i replace carrotwood to a flowering tree,i heard some bad thing about carrotwood being consider as an invasive tree in some part of US and some complaint about the mess and litter.
Lastly, Jacaranda is consider a fast growing tree, how fast is called fast growing? 3 yr? 5 yrs to flower??
To determine of the tree is monoecious or dioecious you need to examine the flowers. Male flowers contain the regular parts except the center structure called the pistil. This will develop into a fruit and contain the seeds. A Female papaya is dioecious. It contains male flowers on one tree and female on another. The papaya fruit come only from the female tree. You need the male tree to provide the pollen for fertilization. Examine the flowers. If they contain both male and female parts or if the flowers are separated out one with the male parts and one with the female parts it is a monoecious tree.

keep out bugs; harmlessly?
im a vegetarian and dont want to kill or harm any insects this summer.
i also dont want them in the house...
is there any way to keep insects, such as flys and ants (spiders are welcome in my home), out of my home with out harming them?
i would preferablly like to not use sprays.
i've heard that lavender oil repels bugs, does anyone have experience with that?
also, i have home-grown lavender plants. how do you make oil from them?
if you can answer any of these questions, it would be most appresiated!
thank you!
Having screen mesh on all your windows and screen doors can make a big difference without harming anything.
