i am african american.the oil i use is africa's best ultimate herbal oil.i wash my hair evry 2 weeks. my hair is a little beyond shoulder length.
Yes, the key to having long hair is retaining length. However, you DON'T have to stop getting relaxers in order to do so. There are plenty of women with thick, healthy waist length, RELAXED hair. It doesn't matter if your hair is natural or relaxed--if you don't know how to take care of it, then of course your hair is going to break. The idea that "natural is the way to go" is great, if that's YOUR preference. The reason why it seems as though many people who have relaxed hair suffer from breakage and their hair doesn't grow is because they relax their hair too frequently and don't attend to their hair's needs. You shouldn't relax your hair any sooner than 8 weeks if you want to retain length. There is a GREAT site that explains the needs of relaxed [and natural] hair: hairlista.com. Just do your research and make sure whatever you decide to do with your hair is YOUR decision, not someone Else's.

Going to a specialist is always going to be expensive. There is a home laser system called Silkn, which is supposed to be pretty good. It ain't cheap. It costs around $650 for the unit.
However, why not get together with a few girlfriends and share the cost of the equipment? You would spend a fraction of the money that it would cost you to go to a specialist.
I bought a small bottle of Moroccanoil (I think it cost around $16-$17 versus around $38-$40 for the full size) over the summer, and I really like it. It’s a light oil, and it doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. I apply it to my dry hair every few days or so. I also have the glimmer shine spray, which I like as well. At first, I thought the products were only available online or in certain hair salons, but I spotted them recently in a local beauty supply store. I’ve also recently heard that regular Argan oil is pretty much the same as Moroccanoil (which contains Argan oil and other ingredients), and I saw a recent video on a line of products (I think they’re called One n’ Only) at Sally’s that are cheaper. I’m also taking a daily multivitamin supplement, but I heard that taking prenatal vitamins also spurs hair growth (and they’re safe for women who aren’t pregnant to take). Is anyone currently taking them, and what has been your experience?
