What Not to Wear, Hair Stylist Relaxer Question?
Nick Orojo, the hairstylist on WHAT NOT TO WEAR, worked on a (Caucasian) man who had really thick, unruly hair, and he said he used a relaxer on him.
1. Would a hairstylist use a different kind of relaxer on a Caucasian person than on an African-American or Hispanic woman? Are there different kinds with different ingredients?
(I only ask be cause I am multi-racial and have really thick, unruly hair and I would like to get it relaxed)
2. After he relaxed the man's hair, he applied a styling serum and said "this is for relaxed, chemically treated hair" - what kind of product would he be using??

lol, i just watched that! there are many many different relaxers for different types of hair. many brands and your stylist will be able to pick the right one for you and help you in finding a styling gell or serum. they work great tho! good luck if your going to get the procedure, you should be happy with the outcome

dry brittle hair help?
I have very dry hair. Its dull and always breaks off. I have used every single moisturizer for hair that their is out there and nothing seems to work. I do dye my hair and use a Chi straightener on it but I don't use it without a heat protector. I use pantene pro-v for women of color(im biracial, black and white) and I've used Bio-silk heating serum and everything else under the sun. I need to know of a good product that I will notice a dramatic change in the condition of my hair. I don't mean anything from Wal-Mart or a drugstore, I need something good, and I know u get wat u pay for. Thanks n advance for the advice.
ok, you can go into a salon and buy more expensive products, but i would recommend deep conditioning. try to lay off the heat a little if you can, but if that's out of the question, keep using the heat protectors.
what works: try this before you buy anything else... go home and do an at-home treatment. it may be a bit messy, but it has done miracles on my damaged, curly hair. i used olive oil last night, warmed it up, applied it to my ends and then smoothed some on to the rest of my hair. i put on a plastic cap, or bag and then put heated towels on top. i slept with the oil and the cap, and then washed it out this morning with the nexxus humectress conditioner. last week, i put raw egg (whipped) and oil to add strength, and i loved it. and next week i am trying avocado to soften my hair. also, invest ina good leave-in conditioner so that you can use it all the time. try getting your ends trimmed a little to get rid of the brittle ends and start getting your hair healthy. it worked wayyyy better than the $25/bottle products I bought, and the fact that it is inexpensive was a huge plus!
and most importantly, take vitamins and drink plenty of water.... you hair is thirsty and the heat is drying it out quicker.
