hair loss at just 18?
Im 18, and for a while now my hairs been falling out a bit, and recently its started getting more rapid for some reason. I die my hair and straighten it which i know is unhealthy, but so do tonnes of other people and their hair isn't thinning...I know people loose an average of 50-100 haris a day, but im alot more and its starting to get quite worrying for me, is it something i should see my doctor about?
Info about me that probably has a part in it - I'm a light smoker, i use heat protector spray, i use colour care shampoo/conditioner, ive tried intensive conditioner and it dosent help much, i drink loads of water
This can be a sign of quite a few things.
If you have noticed more hair loss than usual, then go to the doctor.
Many things can be fixed with a little hormone tweak (like the thyroid) and is really nothing to be scared of...
still, go ahead and get it checked out.
Now, losing 50-100 hairs a day is totally normal.
When you lose that many just putting a brush through your hair four times, like I used to with a hormone shift, well, then, that's a problem.
When te hair falls out eight or twelve strands altogether form the same place, you've got a reason to wonder what the heck id going on.
But 50-100 hairs a day is no big deal for the average bear.
If you're noticing a big change, then just get it checked, is all, but don't worry!

Im 16 and my hair is thinning and i have a smallish baldspot on top of my head 
I straighten my hair sometimes, but always use a heat protector.
I try to leave it natural and use mousse on it.
I dont get why the heck im getting bald.
Its not fair cuz i know girls that damage their hair by dying it, bleaching it,
straightning, curling it,
and theyre not going bald. Makes me mad cuz i take care of my hair.

If it is an actual smooth bald patch it may be alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition that causes hair to fall out in patches.
It is becoming more common for teens to show early signs of androgenetic alopecia. This type of hair loss causes hair in certain areas (bang, top, crown) to become thinner, providing less scalp coverage. It does not cause an actual bald spot. Birth control pills or hormonal changes during puberty can trigger this condition in girls who are predisposed.
