Hair Loss Dream

Overactive Thyroid or M.E?

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Overactive Thyroid, my level was 6.0, dr and hospital said it was a short term problem, but Ive been ill for almost 3 months now with the same symtoms:

Vivid dreams
Rapid heart beat
Anxiety
Tiredness towards the end of the day
Hair Loss
Eye problems

I also lost a stone but then gained it back, I went for a second blood test and he said I came back borderline (I didnt see the result so I dont know the numbers), they have tested for graves disease and that was negative.

Dr asked me if I wanted to be treated and I said yes, he has given me BETA blockers for my heart rate.

I do have energy to move around the house and I don't need to spend all day in bed, I can also walk around outside and feel alright but I do get nervous because my heart rate goes up alot.

I am 23 and Im pretty healthy, my question is how do I know if its overactive thyroid or M.E?

Hyperthyroidism or an overactive thyroid means that your sympathetic nervous system is over stimulated. Your sympathetic nervous system is the "fight or flight" part, which prepares you for action which explains the symptoms you experience, increased heart rate, weight loss etc.

With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (what they used to call ME) is completely different to this, and has not been proven to be linked to your hormones. In fact is hasn't been linked to any pathology what so ever and so doctors are very reluctant to give this diagnosis. The symptoms you describe are supportive of the fact that you do not have ME because you have enough energy to move about inside and outside. So even though you are tired you are not completel fatigued.

Moody, atmospheric items such as "Tender Claim," "Constant Contrast," "Some Warmth Into This Chill" and "My Apology" underscore Nosound's desire to float rather than rock, and that approach yields appealing and very listenable results. No one will accuse A Sense of Loss of being the happiest release of 2009; a dark, brooding, melancholy outlook prevails throughout the album. Of course, Italy has given us a lot of happy music over the years--happy romantic crooners from Napoli, happy dance-pop and house music from Milano and Roma--but the word "happy" never applies on A Sense of Loss. Even the title itself lets you know that feel-good escapism is not on Nosound's menu. But musically, Erra finds a lot of beauty in his melancholia, drawing on influences that include Pink Floyd, Brian Eno (a seminal figure in the development of ambient electronica), Tangerine Dream, Porcupine Tree and Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark (OMD).
