Will i be able to conceive with PCOS?
hi there,
I'm 27 and a year ago i was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. I dont suffer from the typical symptomsas i menstruate regularly, have a bmi of 21, have no excess hair growth, acne or diabetic symptoms associated with pcos. i seem to only suffer from the infertility symptoms. I have been trying to conceive for 3 years and recently started treatments, I have been using clomiphene and the pregnyl trigger injection for 6 months with no success. I have just broken up with my partner of 8 yrs due to the stress of the last 6 months. I am so scared that i will never be able to conceive without ivf. please, if anyone has the same or similar story, i would love to hear from you. thanks in advance
IVF is rarely necessary for PCOS, unless you ALSO have blocked tubes or other problems.
My understanding is that Clomid is not terribly effective for PCOS; most women will need injectable meds. (That was my experience -- no ovulation on Clomid, ovulation but no conception on Pergonol, ovulation, conception and baby on Metrodin.)
If you haven't had a complete fertility work-up, you need to do so. Then, when you're ready to try again, the doc will probably recommend different meds.

Ive just been put on Testosterone by my doctor?
Im 18 years old male 5ft 7 9 stone and ive been put on a 3 month course of sustanon 100mg every month because i have some elements of my puberty delayed eg a growth spurt this is because of the effects of radiotherapy for childhood luekemia it damged my testis but not severly, my doc said i should expect to grow even at 18 because i havent had one and also to start getting more muscle mass and facial body hair which I am lacking, im like a week after my first injection and there is no different feeling or looks does anyone know when to expect major changes?
actually its been a week now since i had my first shot, I dont know if its in my mind but my joints and muscles have started to ache a little like there growing its not like a pain just more like a pulling feeling, also i have had increased erections in the morning lol i did used to get them but not every morning liek I do now
It will take a while for you to notice the difference. Given your prior medical condition you may need to be on a hormone replacement for the remainder of your life. 100 mg monthly seems low, but perhaps your m.d. is starting you with a low dose to determine your tolerance and its effect. If you notice little effect, then I would recommend he increase it in 100 mg increments until you achieve normal testosterone levels as measured by blood work. One way you'll know if this is working is if you have morning erections when you awake and increased sexual desires.
