Hair Growth Hormones
What hormone, if any, contributes to abnormal hair growth in women?
I'm talking about stray hair growth on neck, chin, lip, side burn area etc...I've seen women that have 5:00 shadows because of some sort of hormonal imbalance (I assume?) But also not even that severe...some instances of 3 or 4 black hairs that grow out of her neck, or chin area....not really for any reason...
Any idea what causes this? high or low estrogen or progesterone? Would taking birth control pills contribute to this or help fix it?
Usually abnormal hair growth in women is due to elevated testosterone levels. Many women with this hair growth have something called PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease).
