Hair Growth Hormone Imbalance
male hormone imbalance......?
my brother has had some very odd problems for a while. first of all he has battled acne for about 6 years now...and taken the best of treatments...which helped only briefly. he also has this flaky scalp that he battles to control. he also has abonromal hair growth on one side of his head (its like a bunch of cowlicks or something..idk only specifically on one sie of his head...where the hair doesn't grow in as much and stuff. over the last few years he has gotten a large increase in skin blemishes as well (mostly moles).he also told me (brace yourself) that one of his nipples is always harder than the other. no matter what.
i know he stresses easily and is very emotional as well. could it be something physical like a hormone problem....or are all these od problems just coincidental?? if they could be ...be honest. its ok...i just want to know
he is 22 also. so he is well past puberty...
The range of symptoms for hormone imbalances can literally be head to toe. Everything from hair loss, thinning hair or facial hair growth to acne, to heart palpitations to digestive problems, to oily skin, decreased muscle mass- the list goes on and on.
If he eats a diet full of sugar (like sweets, cokes, candy) or even high carb foods like fruits, breads, cereals, juices, he can mess up his insulin levels, with in turn can lead to hormome imbalances. Only a saliva or blood test can determine which, if any, hormones he either has too much or or not enough of.
If he stresses easily and becomes emotional, he could have a very high cortisol level/adrenal imbalance, which causes problems like:
