Can I Dye My Relaxed Hair?

I'm mixed race and have my hair relaxed (well, the new root growth) every 6-8 weeks. I first had my hair done 3 years ago and over time, my hair has turned from a nice dark chocolate brown, to a kind of ginger/copper/chestnut brown colour and the 'ginger' comments i get really get me down. Some people say its a really nice colour and others just call it ginger :/

I'd really like to dye my hair back to the dark brown it used to be and i know i can't use a permanent colour because of the damage it will do to my hair, but is there any other way around my dilemma?

I wouldn't recommend it. Relaxed hair is already damaged hair plus a chemical on top of that can cuase breakage. Really make sure you deep condition and do protein treatments if you do decide to do that.

Yes you have another choice:
Henna. Make sure it's body grade though and not fake henna. Only problem: henna comes in one color naturally: Red. There are other shades but I've heard that aren't naturally henna. Brown, black etc if they don't come from the cassia plant.

Either way whatever henna you get is likely to be better for your hair than a chemical dye. It has conditioning benefits and actually make hair shinier and the color more vivid everytime you apply. Can a chemical dye do that?

I want to bleach my hair?

at the moment its medium reddy brown (dyed) Im a natural ginger .
I really want bleached blonde hair.

But
Im worried about the root growth coming through , yellowing of my hair etc ,

any tips and how would the process happen ??

Hi first and foremost don't attempt to do this your self. Bleaching hair should really only be done in a salon especially for your natural coloring plus the tint you have on top. there are ways of coloring to reduce the regrowth eg weaving bleach foils through the under sections of your hair and leaving your natural/tinted colour as it is through the parting or at least have that colour freshened up. this way the roots are disguised as they grow and you will be able to last longer between Colors. Please ensure that the salon you choose do a test piece before anything to make sure 1 your hair is strong enough for the process and 2 the bleach will lift to a nce shade not orange or yellow.
