Hair Growth Essentials
Does anyone use essential oils on their scalp to stimulate new hair growth?
I have read articles about esssential oils like rosemary and lavendar stimulating scalp and new hair growth. Is this true? Also, what about scalp massage to help hair growth? I know nutrition, exercise, enough sleep etc are most important but what about these additional treatments? Has anyone seen a difference in their hair.
I only use multiple vitamins and nexxus products and I have healthy fast growing hair.

Do rosemary essential oil and jojoba oil promote hair growth?
I have thinning hair at the top of my head. I've heard that rosemary and jojoba oil promote hair growth.
1) Is that true?
2) I've also heard that jojoba oil is a carrier oil. What does that mean?
3) How should i mix the two?
Yes, it's true, but depending how how much your hair is thinning, it may or may not work to your liking. Jojoba helps loosen dried sebum and unclog hair follicles, allowing for new growth, and rosemary helps stimulate hair growth.
Jojoba is a carrier oil, which means that it's a fixed oil, as opposed to a volatile oil like the rosemary essential oil. The jojoba is a stable oil (jojoba is literally a liquid wax, but because of it's consistency we still refer to it as an oil), where the rosemary will evaporate quickly. Most oils that you would use for cooking would be considered carrier oils - they are the thicker fatty oils, several of which are common such as olive, almond and coconut.
We blend essential oils with carrier oils to make them easier to use. We can dilute them to use them over larger areas, and the carrier prevents them from evaporating too quickly.
Mix about a tablespoon of jojoba with a few drops of rosemary essential oil. If you have a little bottle, or other airtight container, you can pre-blend enough to last you for a while so you don't have to blend it every day.
I prefer to use scalp oil at night.. I use a few drops at a time, apply it directly to my scalp, and massage in. Repeat until you feel like your whole scalp is covered. Jojoba is a really great oil, and a little really goes a long way, so even though a few drops doesn't sound like a lot, it is. You're not looking to soak your scalp and hair, just apply a thin layer on your scalp. I leave it in overnight and wash it out in the morning. If you have thick hair on the dry side, you may even be able to apply it in the morning.

At one point, it suggests olive oil, but in my opinion, jojoba is a far superior oil.
