Hair Growth Direction Neck
What is a good electric razor for a thick beard?
I am always cutting up my neck with razors. I have tried expensive brand single, double, triple and 4 blades. I have thick hair growth on my neck that goes in different directions and am tired of tearing up my neck and bleading. Is there a good electric razor for a guy like me. I have never had one???????????
Mike, I understand completely! My facial hair is thick too, in some areas there is more then one hair growing out of the follicle! For this reason, I too find it virtually impossible to use a regular razor. If it ain't ripping my face to shreds it digs in to the hairs and stalls, then it is like I am ripping the hair out of my face!
So...
I use a Norelco electric shaver, the kind with the rotary heads, and it works just fine, gives me a close shave too! The foil type dose not work as well cause the holes that the hair is supposed to go in to get shaved are always too small!
Do a web search on "Norelco Shavers" and shop around a bit, figure on paying at least 50 bucks or more to insure getting one that will last.

Will I never be able to shave?
I'm 17 and I can grow a fairly thick beard. My neck hair grows in all different directions so when I shave with a blade it grows back as razor burn because it's pokes out of my skin bc of it's direction of growth. I don't cut myself I wash my face before and after etc. My face is fine it's just my neck. Right now im isn't and electric trimmer and just trimming it down to stubble length. will I ever be able to shave with a blade or will it always be to close bc of the direction of my hair growth?
Hi, I'm Pedro.
I work for Gillette, and I hope that the tips I have listed below can help you have a more comfortable shaving experience:
1. Shave in the same direction that you hair grows. 'Go with the grain'
2. Always use a new blade. I know it can be tempting to get as much use as possible from a blade, but a blunt blade will further create sharp edges to your beard follicles.
3. Wash your face with hot water with a good soap or scrub. This will open your pores and allow the hair follicles to come out more naturally, and helps exfoliate your skin. In addition, using hot water reduces the strength of your beard hair by up to 70%, which can be as tough as copper thread with the same thickness.
4. Always use a decent amount of foam/gel which helps lock in moisture, keeping the hair soft for longer. In addition, it reduces friction and allows for a better glide and closer shave.
On a personal note, I find that shaving in the shower gives me the best shaving experience. The constant flow of water keeps my beard hair very soft and easy to cut. I personally have quite thick beard and find this helps me.
