does sulfate-free shampoo make hair greasier?
I have thin, fine hair that's prone to dryness and split ends, so I started using Tigi's Rockaholic Sulfate-Free Shampoo about five days ago, and for the first couple of days my hair was amazingly soft and shiny, but now it seems to be getting a little greasy. Is this a normal side-effect of using sulfate-free shampoos or is this just my head trying to overcompensate after using all of the other shampoos I've used that do have sulfates?
You should really change your shampoo after using it for 2 weeks say, and maybe the reason why ur hair is going greasy is the way you apply the shampoo, you should rub the shampoo into the scalp gently not the hair bcos the scalp is were there is build up of products, to know if all the product is out you should get a strand of hair when you've done washing the hair in the shower and rub the hair inbetween the fingers if it squicks its clean (when its wet), i know it sounds strange but i got told that by a hairdresser and from then on ive checked if it squicks and it does and its neva been greasy since. Btw a really good shampoo that does wonders to your hair is Johnsons baby shampoo, yes i know its babys shampoo but thats why there hair is so soft all the time.

Buy a sulphate-free shampoo, your hair will thank you.
Highlights are fading between visits. Stylist says I need to use a sulfate free shampoo. Other alternatives?
Are there any other color maintenance tips or shampoos and conditioners that I can use? I have not had much luck with the sulfate free shampoos. I keep going back to my Kenra volumizing shampoo and conditioner.
Volumizing shampoos have a lot of alcohol in them and have a tendancy to dry out the hair a lot of the time. Thats how they give you the volume, it drys out your hair. By drying your hair, you're opening the cuticle allowing the color molecules to strip away slowly from your hair. Sulfate free is a better alternative. Try going an extra day or two between shampooing, that would make it a lot easier matinence wise and time wise.! you'll feel a difference in your hairs health as well.
