Why do people foam seal the inside of garage (opening where the drywall meets the floor)?
I am looking for buying a home. I notice that in some homes the owners have used foam sealants all round the inside of garage (like a line : where the drywall bottom meets the floor ) . I am afraid if this could be hinting a mice problem
Id say its more for adsorption, doesnt want to rot your walls.

What is the best way to fix a creaking shower pan?
Bought a new condo and the plastic shower pan not only creaks but you can also cause the bottom to pump. The drain cover also comes off when the bottom pumps. It appears the tray was improperly installed. The builder wants a contractor to drill holes in the shower pan and inject foam under the pan then seal the pan with an epoxy. The builder and contractor say the work will be guaranteed.
I feel the pan was improperly installed and should be removed and reinstalled properly.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? How did you resolve it?
Hi Rick. I had the same issue in the condo I bought. It was built in the 80's and every shortcut was taken during construction it seems to keep costs down. I thought about doing the foam trick as well, but I understand it eventually breaks down simply from the weight of standing on it and second thing is that once you drill holes in the plastic, that water will always find a way in no matter what you seal it with. It's just a matter of time and now you will have a mold issue over time. I decided to do it right and have the old one removed and a new one inserted from scratch. This also allowed me the opportunity to update the fixtures at the same time. It came out great! No more bumping, creaking or lifting and no worries about water leaking through to the ceiling down below through holes in the plastic! Hope this helps. I know it's more expensive, but you will save yourself future issues.
