How can I repair dented or bent cooling fins on the rear (Outdoor) side of a window air conditioner?

While assembling a newly-purchased window air conditioner, a small object (A friend's toe) accidentally impacted against the back of the unit (The end that sticks outside and exhausts the hot air), bending the tiny and exceedingly fragile cooling fins, creating a circular dent approximately two inches in diameter. The tubing within is not bent or dented, just the fins, and the whole dent is at most 1/8" deep. Is there a way to straighten these fins back to normal? I realize it is impossible to make them appear perfect like they did when it was brought home from the store, but at least enough to allow air to flow between them again. Perhaps a fine-tooth plastic comb or something similar would work?

go to Home Depot (or whatever you have by you ) and pick up a fin comb. It will be in th HVAC section and is very easy to use. Be careful though, you can tear those fins out f you use too much pressure so make several passes until they are strainght. If they are pounded flat, try a butterknife to lift them where the comb can get them. A little patience and you'll have proper air flow back.

On Fragile, Cabrel doesn't stray far from the approach of his preceding album, Les Chemins de Traverse, alternating uptempo blues-oriented rockers with ballads and smooth pop rock. The artistic production plays to the strengths of his singer/songwriter style, minimizing distractions, sticking to mostly acoustic instruments, and allowing the focus to remain on the melody and lyrics. It's something of a shame that the songs aren't as strong as on many of Cabrel's other recordings. There are some bright spots on the album, such as "Elle écoute pousser les fleurs." Cabrel serves up a fine vocal performance on the track, the lyrics are picturesque and the melody is pleasing. The song may be worth hearing for the surprise ending alone (try to ignore the solo near the end, credited as being a child's piano). "Le petit gars," co-written with Georges Augier de Moussac, is a good example of Cabrel's lyric writing abilities. Also, "De l'autre côté de toi" features some nice harmonies and slide guitar work. For the most part, though, the album is not too memorable. ~ Samuel Johnson, RoviPerformers: Georges Augier - Basse; Roger Loubet - Toy Piano; Patrice Tison - Guitarelle; Gérard Bikialo - Clavier; Francis Cabrel - Guitar; Tony Sadler - Guitar; Roger Secco - Drums; José Souc - Guitar

Guitarist Michael Musillami has grown and expanded his horizons over three decades of performing and recording. A much more progressive jazzman from his days playing standards, Musillami has also become a fine composer of notable original music. On this date with his quartet dubbed Dialect, the leader presents new material and a handful of reworked pieces from older recordings done with larger ensembles, but played with a foursome of incredible musicians. Peter Madsen has been a dazzling but unsung pianist in the modern jazz sphere. Drummer Matt Wilson and bassist Drew Gress have plenty of acclaim as sidemen and leaders. It's not difficult to hear the shared values, respect, and trust this group exude in exponential terms. Of the new pieces, "Brooms" is a tribute to the brushwork of Wilson, a frantic waltz calmed, slowing altogether, and the most fragile deconstruct. "Ernie the Neck," dedicated to Musillami's 200-pound Great Dane, is a towering theme, imposing, a bit threatening in subtle ways, with a dank bass from Gress surrounding Wilson's light funk. The heavily improvised title track sports triplet figures in different strategic placings, confident in its brave heart, contrasting with the brittle intro of the two-minute "Robmac," essentially cautious and skeptical. Musillami's tone is not overtly over the top or mutated, but solid, fluid, a bit angular and very accessible. Of the remakes, he prefers unison lines with Madsen that dart in and out of sight as on the unabashed, bop based, bouncy and dancing, at times furious "Seven Blend." The sad ballad "Emmett Spencer" from his early days is redone, perhaps one of his more memorable pieces, and quite similar to "You Don't Know What Love Is." In over 13 minutes, "Beijing" (the title track of a previous CD) phases from dawn in Asia with gongs and percussion to overtone laden 6/8 time signature chords from Musillami with a bright modern line. Madsen shows his depth and substance throughout this CD in his brilliant solos and workmanlike partnership with Musillami on the complex melodies and shouted choruses. He never shows up in the critic's polls, but is overdue to place and finish high on them. Michael Musillami, also one deserving wider recognition, has put together a string of excellent recordings for the Playscape label, and alongside the recording Dachau, this ranks with his very best. ~ Michael G. Dell Inspiron 1525 extremely fragile?

I have had a Dell Inspiron 1525 for a little over a year, and it has become extremely fragile. Whenever I lift it up, or put a slight amount of pressure on a certain area the laptop immediately freezes up or restarts.

This has been happening since three weeks ago. I opened up the laptop to check if all the parts were okay, and everything seemed fine. It stopped for a while after I checked it, then began again a couple days ago. Any ideas on whether it's the hardrive or what?

Appreciate your answers :)

I suggest you get extended warranty and then get dell to sort it out, i'm not entirely sure what could be causing that but maybe its the hard drive.. in order to determine whether it is the hard drive or not, boot a linux live CD and press your laptop to see if it crashes. if it doesnt, its the hard drive causing the problem. If it does, its not the hard drive, its some other part, maybe the graphics card, a lose wire or something. alternatively, you could run the built in dell diagnostic tools by holding the FN key whilst pressing the power button when booting the PC. this should identify which parts aren't working. Sorry i cant be more specific.
