Economy Starter Kit
What are good, affordable pool balls?
I just bought a pool table (hasn't been delivered yet) and I forgot to buy a starter kit for it. So now I figure I'll look around and get decent stuff instead of economy-quality stuff. What is a good set of balls to get that's still affordable? I can't really afford to spend more than $50 or so for a set, but I don't want something that's crappy, either. Is that asking too much?

I see there are Crown Standard balls that are Aramith balls with some imperfections. Will they still play well/consistently?
Aramith are best, so even imperfect ones are likely to be better than cheaper makes. I bought a cheap set of pool balls for my home table from a market last year and they are chipped, stained and dull already. my snooker balls (i take my own balls to the snooker club) are aramith, and after 3years, they still look brand new. -and they get used twice as much
if you pay a good amount now, they should last a lifetime.
as for the imperfections in the balls, it isnt likely to interrupt with your game too much. it isnt uncommon for some pool-hall balls to be different in size by up to 0.3mm, and for them to be non-round (some balls have a difference of up to 0.05mm across the diameter) as long as they arnt chipped (look very closely at every ball) you should be o.k

Quality of products: Petsmart or Walmart?
I'm looking to upgrade to a 29 gallon fish tank tomorrow. Petsmart has a basic 29 gallon tank with nothing just the tank for $90. Walmart has a 29 gallon starter kit that comes with the tank, cover, fish net, filter, heater, water de-chlorinator, and food for $100
as much as I'd like to just get as much bang for my buck as possible (especially in this economy) I'm more worried about quality than savings.
I'm not shopping anywhere else so in the category of quality Petsmart fish products or Walmart fish products.
oh and what is the quality of the products that come in the starter kit
Personally I would go with wal mart. At least it comes with a lid (which is a little pricey) and a net. Those two things are pretty standard wherever you get them. However, I would buy a better heater and filter as soon as you can. You could start with just buying a new filter because then the good bacteria you grow in it will not have to be replaced when you switch. The heater can be replaced later. In the long run this will save you quit a bit of money without sacrificing your fish.
