Complex Saw Palmetto
Why are my eyes spasming?

I've recently stopped smoking. I'm on the patch and I've also started taking vitamins:
-Ginko
-B-Complex
-E
-Saw Palmetto
-Acidolphilus
-Milk Thistle
-Echinacea/ Goldenseal

And all day today, my left and right eye keep spasming or twitching or ticcing as it would be. Is this something I should be worrying about? What's casuing it?

A sudden on-set of eye spasms or twitching is usually nothing to worry about. Eyelid twitching is usually caused by stress, fatigue, eyestrain, too much caffeine or alcohol, allergies, dry eyes, or nutritional imbalances. My guess would be that you are experiencing increased amounts of stress since you stopped smoking. (BTW- Congratulations!) However, due to all the different vitamins you are taking, it might also be a nutritional imbalance. Also, I'm not sure what the patch consists of besides nicotine, but if it contains caffeine, this too could be the problem. I really don't think you have anything to worry about, but if it persists you might want to see an eye doctor. Hope this helps.

Saw Palmetto Complex 60 Softgels: N

$24.3

Saw Palmetto Complex provides the highest quality standardized saw palmetto extract available, together with other active nutrients that complement its activity. In addition to the recommended 320 mg of palmetto extract, this formulation provides 120 mg of beta-sitosterol, the major active principle in pygeum. Whole pygeum extract is prepared with solvents, so it was excluded and only the beta-sitosterol is used. It also includes a generous portion of pumpkin seed oil (from the required species from Eastern Europe), minerals and vitamin B6. No solvents are used in the preparation of this product. Lycopene is an antioxidant carotenoid that has been shown in recent studies to support the prostate gland.* (See also Item no. 54190, Prostate Nutritional Support). Schiff's Saw Palmetto uses a standardized extract from the berries, containing concentrated active ingredients. Saw Palmetto extracts support healthy prostate function.* Primary Use: Maintain normal prostate health.* Saw Palmetto (sabal) is an herb that acts to tone and strengthen the male reproductive system. It may be used with safety where a boost to the male sex hormones is required. It is specific in cases of enlarged prostate glands. It will be of value in infections of the genito-urinary tract. Benign prostate enlargement appears to be triggered by abnormally high levels of the male hormones testosterone and dihydrotestosterone in prostate tissue. Saw Palmetto reduces absorption of these hormones within the prostate gland, while reducing inflammation and swelling. This reduces bladder obstruction and improve urinary flow. Saw palmetto does not appear to inhibit production of testosterone elsewhere in the body. At least three rigorous clinical trials have confirmed Saw Palmetto's ability to remedy urinary difficulties. In one comparative trial, it proved equal to the prescription drug Proscar as a source of symptomatic relief (although, unlike Proscar, it had no beneficial impact on the size of the prostate). Saw palmetto extract has also been combined with a nettle root extract to successfully treat benign protatic hyperplasia. One study using a combination of saw palmetto extract and nettle root extract showed positive actions on symptoms of BPH over a one-year treatment period. .

Native Americans have long consumed the fruit of this shrub for food and harvested honey from its flower. Saw Palmetto acts as a diuretic and urinary antiseptic, stimulates the appetite, inhibits the production of dihydrotestosterone (a hormone that contributes to enlargement of prostate) and its good for poor appetite and prostate disorders. The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Saw palmetto berry for 'Urination problems in benign prostatic hyperplasia stages I and II.' Benign prostate enlargement appears to be triggered by abnormally high levels of the male hormones testosterone and dihydrotestosterone in prostate tissue. Saw Palmetto reduces absorption of these hormones within the prostate gland, while reducing inflammation and swelling. This reduces bladder obstruction and improve urinary flow. Saw Palmetto prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydortestosterone, which helps to prevent the development of prostate disease and may also be beneficial for genitourinary problems, endocrine disorders, infertility, impotence, menstrual disorders, ovarian dysfunction, lactation, thyroid deficiencies, and painful menstrual periods. Saw palmetto does not appear to inhibit production of testosterone elsewhere in the body. At least three rigorous clinical trials have confirmed Saw Palmetto's ability to remedy urinary difficulties. It has proved useful in irritative cough, chronic bronchial coughs, whooping-cough, laryngitis, acute and chronic, acute catarrh, asthma, tubercular laryngitis, and in the cough of phthisis pulmonalis. Upon the digestive organs it acts kindly, improving the appetite, digestion, and assimilation.' Is zinc, saw palmetto, and b-complex?

I have hair loss around the crown area are any of these vitamins good to make hair stronger?

Potentially, yes.
Zinc is a fantastic antioxidant (so it can protect against damage to cells). Saw Palmetto is primarily beneficial for Prostate health, but has other benefits towards male hormone health (namely, it may help prevent Testosterone from converting into DHT). A B-Complex is good for hair health in general, not to mention energy and cardiovascular health.
However, all that being said, it depends on what the cause of the hair loss was to start with... if it was just due to DHT, those could help quite a bit.

Regardless of the potential for hair growth, they will all help with various aspects of health, so that would be good for you anyway. ;-) Good luck!
