and if its not could you recommend me some?

Now for the food. Here's a good article on choosing a good food for your cat.

A Healthy Distrust

Independent rap phenom Sage Francis could have spent his entire career in the underground, winning dozens of poetry slams and collecting battle MC awards at least once per year. But his voice needs to be heard by more hip-hop fans, not simply because he's a gifted rapper but also because he's provocative and intelligent. It's no surprise that the increasingly diversified Epitaph label signed him, but it's also no surprise that Francis hasn't mellowed with his new contract. In fact, since his first solo record for Anticon, he's grown fiercer and gained more ammo (courtesy of the political situation circa 2004-2005). The beats (never a highlight previously) are not only cleaner than his eight-track days, but also bigger and better, contributed by some of the best producers in the sub-underground: Sixtoo, Danger Mouse, Alias, and Reanimator among others. Overall, the Sage may be polemical on a level like few other than Dead Prez, but he also has a metaphysical side matched by few other than Jeru tha Damaja. (Has any other rapper ever imagined a battle DJ match between the Sun and the Moon?) The combination is effective, since commentary often ages better when it's delivered on multiple levels. Unlike political firebrands KRS-One and Rage Against the Machine, Francis speaks in metaphor so much, and indulges in abstract disassociation so frequently, that although listeners won't learn any lessons immediately, they also won't be bludgeoned over the head with his ideas. On "Gunz Yo" he doesn't simply decry gun violence, he investigates the symbolism of weapons, from the gun to the phallus to the tongue. He also finds much compelling material from his social life; "Agony in Her Body" nakedly explores the dichotomy of sex and violence, then the next track, "Crumble," reaches a higher point of romantic catharsis with a bone-rattling breakdown at the end contributed by Sixtoo. Only one thing about A Healthy Distrust is frustrating: Francis is an artist who places every concern under a microscope, and although his perspective is interesting, its power would benefit immensely from a larger frame of reference. ~ John Bush, RoviPerformers: Tom Inhaler - Guitar; Will Oldham - Guitar, Vocals

In the liners for Healthy in Paranoid Times, Our Lady Peace's first studio album in three years, there's a photo of a wall where facts are scrawled. "Within these 1165 days..." it says, referring to the lengthy time it took to record the album, "11 thousand dollars was spent on food for the band." "2000 hours were spent both discussing and playing music." But then the tone changes. "30 active wars were fought across the globe," "54 million people died from extreme poverty." The list goes on, itemizing everything from how many hours OLP spent on airplanes to the number of North American deaths from cancer. Are we supposed to see the futility of rock & roll in the face of international strife and hunger? That's certainly an honorable notion, but it seems sort of ham-fisted, too, mostly because no one made Our Lady Peace take that long to record their album. But it also has very little to do with the music on Healthy in Paranoid Times. Well, in "Wipe That Smile Off Your Face," Raine Maida does use metaphors of wars and bombs to describe a failing relationship, so maybe he's aiming for some connectivity between the music and those suffering phrases on the wall. Healthy is also a much moodier album than 2002's Gravity. The highlights of that record were the Goo Goo Dolls-ish singles "Somewhere Out There" and "Innocent." Here songs have a tendency to drag on -- opener "Angels/Losing/Sleep" plods along for nearly five minutes, and even the single "Where Are You" -- which otherwise has a peppy guitar line comparable to the Killers -- overstays its welcome with an extended "This could be the best day of your life" singalong. But the biggest problem with Healthy in Paranoid Times, besides its inflated thematic framework, is its lack of distinction. Our Lady Peace has proven how good they are at approximating U2's epic scope with modern rock atmospherics. So why did it take them over a 1000 days to do that again? [The album was also issued in a DualDisc format with the entire album in PCM stereo and a documentary about its creation.] ~ Johnny Loftus, RoviPerformers: Lyrica Anderson - Choir, Chorus; Lyrica Garrett - Choir, Chorus; Randy Love - Choir, Chorus; Adam MacDougall - Organ (Hammond); Billy Valentine - Choir, Chorus; Duncan Coutts - Guitar (Bass), Vocals;

Why is the meat in Healthy Choice meals so nasty?

Everytime I make a healthy choice meal, I cant bring myself to eat the meat. It is always so chewy or fatty or grissly, its just gross. If these meals are supposed to be so great for you, why is the quality so bad? Anyone else find this to be true? I think other frozen diet food tends to be similar.

I have found Health Choice and Lean Cuisine both to be nasty. I'd rather eat a Stouffer's and just make sure the total calorie count is low. Or a piece of chicken and salad. Good for you, tastes better, less garbage.

One Response to “Choice Healthy”

  1. TUNGSTEN_MAN says:

    Hey, Its really great that Thicke is running against this Monsanto guy, and I hope he wins, in comparison to this Monsanto guy, because I like many redditors dont like Monsanto one bit. So I thought “Maybe I could donate a few dollars to show my support, better look at his opinions first.” I saw the issues section of the website and read them. And from my limited view point, I give him a “meh” There were three issues provided, and his opinions on them. I want to present my responses to each one. **Producing food for Iowans** I really disagree with the themes I read. The basic impression I get, is that Iowa should enact policies that encourage Iowans to buy food grown in Iowa. I dont know how he is going to do this. I dont even think he should do this. Francis Thicke says “Locally grown food is more healthy, and so the government should encourage its consumption” I dont agree. Buying food is a consumers choice, and while I agree that is it healthier, I still think its ultimately a consumers choice to be healthier or not, or to buy locally or not. Not the Francis Thicke’s. Anyway, here are some specific quotes: >Growing more of our food in Iowa represents a multi-billion dollar economic development opportunity. This potential economic activity could create thousands of new jobs and help revitalize rural communities in Iowa This is a bad idea. We should just leave the industry alone for the most part. Dont you think farmers are going to hire enough workers as they need for the current availible price? I guess you could stimulate more jobs, but there is always the plausible that the jobs you are creating are worthless and will disappear soon after you stimulate their creation. Which is exactly what I think will happen. Also, dont you think every state does the whole “Our farmers need subsidies” argument, which is just going to put you in a big subsidy arms race at the expense of tax payers. bad idea. Just, dont bother worrying about the agriculture industry in this regard. >A recent study found that obesity-related medical spending in the U.S. amounts to $147 billion per year. Since Iowa has about one percent of the U.S. population, Iowa’s cost for obesity comes to $1.47 billion. How do you know that? Maybe Mississippi accounts for 60% of 147 billion and Iowa accounts for .00001% of 147 billion. Taking a large number, and dividing it by the population doesnt tell you anything. The distribution is way more important. Whats presented there is just bad math. >To help tackle the growing obesity epidemic Dont tackle the growing obesity epidemic. Its a consumers choice. Healthy food exists, people can choose to buy that food, if they dont then they dont. **Producing energy on Iowa farms** It sounds like a statement supporting alternative energy. Which I am critical of. On one hand, I understand that alternative energies will be needed in the future. On the other hand, I understand that the reason they arent used today is because they arent cost efficient. I support the idea of encouraging research into alternative energies. Thats what we need, better alternative energy. Alternative energy that works. The reason Iowan farmers dont have alternative energy, is because its not cost effective. By encouraging iowan farmers to use technology that they probably wouldnt use otherwise doesnt do anything except temporarily alleviate energy or pollution problems. Dont just pay farmers to use windmills, pay someone to come up with a windmill a farmer would want to buy. **Animal Agriculture** I mostly agree. I want farmers to be accountable for the pollution they produce, and I want the government to step in and enforce practices that discourage harmful pollution. I like the idea of taking on someone who represents Monsanto, I like restricting pollution, but over all, I think Francis Thicke’s apparent opinions and policies are too short sighted and ill conceived to gain my support. So I wont be donating to his campaign.
