how is it possible that some red clays on the ocean floor have been found to contain material from outer space

Explain how is it possible that some red clays on the ocean floor have been found to contain material from outer space.

Because the oceans cover 3 quarters of the earth, they are a bigger target for any meteors coming in from outer space.

Found in the Flood

Found in the Flood

$9.97

Found in the Flood refines the post-hardcore flail of the Bled's 2003 debut Pass the Flask. The ratios have all been tightened -- loud to soft, melodic to disjointed, sane to crazy -- and the result is an album with more rewards than the typical genre entry. It's still loaded down with pretentious cover art, and the constant dynamic between whispering shudder and screaming bloody murder might grow tiresome for those with just a casual interest in post-hardcore's tortured cerebrals. But "Guttershark" and "My Assassin" are rabid and raucous Mars Volta descendents that still stay in sight of melody, and there are enough tweezed guitar moments throughout Flood to offer more than the usual wall of gruff distortion. Bled vocalist James Muñoz is adept at the jarring shifts between an exploding esophagus and falsetto croon, and noted modern rock producer Mark Trombino (Jimmy Eat World, Rilo Kiley) keeps the Bled moving along without too many indulgent pauses. In fact, most of the indulgence is saved for the end, where the otherwise satisfyingly chaotic "I Don't Keep with Liars Anymore" fizzles into a noodling exploration of guitar harmonics. (The squelchy programming tacked onto the very end doesn't count for anything.) Fortunately there's "Last American Cowboy," which stutters along in volatile post-hardcore meter until dropping into an insistent, even hooky chorus, and "Antarctica," where the swirling opening fog becomes something much louder and very near a noisier Modest Mouse. ~ Johnny Loftus, RoviPerformers: James Muñoz - Vocals; Ross Ott - Guitar; Mike Pedicone - Drums; Darren HeyGuy Simoes - Bass, Guitar (Bass); Jeremy Ray Talley - Guitar

Been Doon So Long:

Been Doon So Long:

$23.06

2010 James Beard Award Winner! This eclectic collection at last brings to a wide audience the irreverent, zany voice of Randall Grahm, visionary California winemaker and founder of Bonny Doon Vineyard. An iconoclastic send-up of the wine industry and a celebration of unsung grape varieties, the book features, among other things, Grahm's hilarious literary parodies--Joyce, Kafka, Pynchon, Salinger, and others--together with song lyrics, other snarky satires, poems, lectures, and more. Subtle undertones of gravitas with faint suggestions of earnestness lie beneath the humor, however, as Grahm passionately addresses the state of wine today: Where in wine does "greatness" truly repose? How might true originality in New World wines be found? Do New World winemakers have the integrity and courage to unreservedly embrace terroir? This trove includes a very personal take on Dante's Inferno (Grahm's own vision of Wine Hell) and a collection of tunes from the rock opera "Born to Rhône." Other pieces offer a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Rhône Ranger wine movement and of Bonny Doon itself, told through the story of its adventurous wine labels. Been Doon So Long is a highly entertaining journey to find the "truth of all things that may be found in the unlikely medium of a wineglass."

Love, Lost & Found

Love, Lost & Found

$11.97

Frank Morgan moved from Antilles to Telarc with Love, Lost and Found, which emphasizes the altoist's romantic side and boasts Cedar Walton on piano, Ray Brown on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums. Those who had been following Morgan's career knew that he was a magnificent ballad player, and ballads are a very high priority on this CD. Most of the standards that he embraces had been recorded time and time again over the years, including "Skylark," "I Can't Get Started," "My One and Only Love," and "Don't Blame Me." But Morgan's playing is so personal and so darn soulful that one doesn't mind hearing yet another version of "What Is This Thing Called Love" or "All The Things You Are." It's best for musicians to stay away from such warhorses unless they have something really personal to bring to them, and thankfully, Morgan does. Though it doesn't offer a lot of surprises, Love, Lost and Found is a rewarding disc that admirers of Morgan's more romantic playing will appreciate. ~ Alex Henderson, RoviPerformers: Frank Morgan - Sax (Alto)

I'm Easy/Lost And Found

I'm Easy/Lost And Found

$10.98

This CD contains both of Keith Carradine's mid-'70s long-players, I'm Easy (1976) and the follow-up Lost & Found (1978). Although primarily known for his screen appearances and as the son of actor John Carradine, he demonstrated his musical penchant in the Robert Altman film Nashville (1975). He subsequently won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1976 with his composition "I'm Easy." The tune made a decent showing (number 17) on the pop singles charts, scoring him a deal with Asylum Records. As the title would suggest, I'm Easy (1976) included a remake of that hit. The update sticks fairly close to the soundtrack rendering, with a small string section the primary difference. The remainder of the effort featured some strong MOR melodies under the direction of noted jazz musician Dave Grusin (synthesizer/piano/keyboards). The introspective opener, "Honey Won't You Let Me Be Your Friend," as well as the stark "Spellbound" and jazz-fused R&B on "It's Been So Long" are a few of the highlights. Studio session heavies such as Harvey Mason (drums), Earl Palmer (drums), Dean Parks (guitar), and Lee Ritenour (guitar) provide an ample instrumental bed that never clutters Grusin's arrangements. Lost & Found (1978) contrasts his previous outing with a more organic feel, and sports some choice cover songs. Tom Waits' "San Diego Serenade" and the mid-tempo folksy version of the Beatles' "Rain" are examples, with the latter standing out as wholly distinct from the original with a free-flowing acoustic lead replacing George Harrison's edgy distorted guitar. Carradine's "Smile Again, Laugh Again," the soulful "Chance Blues," and the ballad "Homeless Eyes" are the best offerings on Lost & Found. Producer/arranger Brooks Arthur assembled a team that included Jim Keltner (drums), Ray Neapolitan (bass), and Steve Porcaro(synthesizer). This Collectors' Choice Music release once again makes both platters available after having been out of print for several decades. ~ Lindsay Planer, Rovi

Paradise Found: A Celebration of Charles...

Paradise Found: A Celebration of Charles...

$14.99

Full title: Paradise Found: A Celebration of Charles Wesley, 1707-1788.Personnel: Bill Badley (lute).Recording information: Warehouse Studios.Arrangers: Andy Watts; A. Stirling Davis III; Giles Lewin.Three-hundred years ago Charles Wesley, the man who founded Methodism, was born. That anniversary is celebrated with a good selection of Methodist hymns and other old songs on Paradise Found. To be fair, many of these are relatively obscure (certainly to non-Methodists), and some are deadly earnest rather than anthemic, with plenty of strong sentiments in the lyrics, which tend to the wordy, rather than the spare, as with the somewhat sentimental "Dead! Dead! The Child I Lov'd So Well." Of course, there are a few familiar items, like "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and the work has all been married to stirring tunes. The hymns are fine, although some of them might be a little wasted on non-believers, while the secular material proves a little more interesting -- but it should be noted that the division between religion and secular life seemed to be almost non-existent. Maddy Prior is in her usual good voice, and the Carnival Band give sterling support. More a labor of love than a serious commercial attempt, it's a pleasure to hear, even if it might not warrant repeated listenings. ~ Chris Nickson

Just how low will a guy sink in order to impress the woman of his dreams? How does stealing her dog sound? In Lost and Found, David Spade plays Dylan, who is about to open an new restaurant and has finally found the perfect apartment. The apartment just gets better when he meets his new neighbor, Lila (Sophie Marceau), a very beautiful women who has recently come to the United States from France. However, Lila has just gotten out of a bad relationship with Ren? (Patrick Bruel), who doesn't want to leave her alone, so she has little interest in romance, preferring to devote herself to her cello and her dog Jack. One day, Jack runs away and Dylan finds him; when he returns the pooch to Lila, it's the first time she's been willing to speak in full sentences to him, though not for very long. Faster than you can say "That idea is so crazy it just might work!", Dylan decides to kidnap Jack; when Lila thinks the dog is lost, Dylan will generously volunteer to help look for him, which will give Dylan a chance to impress Lila when he's able to find Jack so quickly. Sure enough, Dylan swipes the dog, but from that point on the plan hardly goes the way he had hoped. Star David Spade also co-wrote the screenplay with J.B. Cook and Marc Meeks; the supporting cast includes Martin Sheen, Mitchell Whitfield, Artie Lang and Jon Lovitz. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The Archive: Live, Lost & Found

The Archive: Live, Lost & Found

$23.99

Fans disappointed by the continued delay of the third Rakim solo album, The Seventh Seal, will perhaps find some solace in The Archive: Live, Lost & Found, which, as the title suggests, contains mainly live cuts as well as four new, previously unreleased tracks. Perhaps find solace only because the songs, the first four on the record, don't stand out as particularly strong parts of the rapper's discography, either alone or with Eric B. The single, "It's Nothing," has been in Ra's concert repertoire since 2006 (and in fact is even included as a live cut later on). It takes a decent but almost boringly straightforward DJ Static beat and has the MC rhyming about his skills and what he brings to hip-hop; not bad by any means, but very standard fare. Rakim sounds better when doing his older, more classic material, and the sound quality from the performances (many, if not all, are from New York) is good, and displays his smooth, effortless flow well, helping to reestablish why he's considered one of the greatest MCs ever. He runs through all the favorites -- "Paid in Full," "Follow the Leader," "My Melody," and "Eric B. Is President," the latter on which he changes the references to his former partner to let everyone know that he is indeed not there -- and he does them well, and is clearly performing to an excited and appreciative crowd. Because, however, the audience is not miked, the numerous times Rakim lets his fans fill in the lines are nearly inaudible to the album listener, and rather pointless because of that. Still, it's clear he's still got his chops and talent, and though The Archive: Live, Lost & Found is not a replacement for an actual studio full-length, it helps to fill in the space while we wait. ~ Marisa Brown, Rovi

How many neanderthal fossils have been found?

I heard something about neanderthal men was just a disease so i just want some evidence about how many have been found.

Between 400 & 500 Neanderthal fossils have been found. I can't give you the exact number because more are being found every day.

http://www.answersincreation.org/neanderthal/neanderthal_fossils.htm

One of the 1st fossils, found in the 19th century was of an old man with severe arthritus of the spine and thus caused the scientists that examined it to suspect neanderthal walked bent over. That particular one probably did, as many of the elderly do today.
