Which Pokemon game for Gameboy is the best? What's the difference between all the colors?
Okay, first of all - I realize that this is an absurd question for an 18 year old to be asking, but I had the weirdest craving to play Pokemon the other day. I did once a long time ago for about three weeks straight, and I rather enjoyed collecting all the little animals and naming them. If there's another game with a similar premise you think is better, please suggest that to me rather than telling me how ridiculously stupid I am for wanting to play Pokemon. I already know that.
Anyway, as we all know, there are about a million different "colors" of Pokemon games ranging from red to ruby. So, my question is: Which one should I get? Is one better than another? What's the difference? Or should I get two or three? They're probably pretty cheap now that no one likes them anymore.
i'm 25. 18? pshaaaw! heh
red, blue, and yellow, the oldest games were fun... at their time. after playing updated versions, it was... difficult to stay in those games.
gold, silver, and crystal were quite fun - you can't trade from this version into later games because there are tons of messups in these games, but since they involve EV charts that you never have access to, go for them if you want - they are quite decent
fire and leaf are remakes of red and blue, and they are updated to include the new types of gold's era. also, they are compatible with other modern pokemon games. definately a plus
ruby, sapphire, and emerald are the games i would recommend. just pick any of the three, it really doesn't matter. although emerald is a little more updated. these three games have a storyline through the entire game to follow, which is why i would have you choose one of these.
there are spinoffs as well. including mystery dungeon, which takes an old game by some company that makes random dungeon games, and puts a nice storyline to it, and uses the moves of the pokemon quite well. this is definately a good game, if you have a nintendo DS. also, pokemon ranger just came out on halloween
animal crossing is not a pokemon game, but there is an element of collecting things in it that you might find addictive. it's a good game - better if you can get your DS online (it's also on the gamecube, but no online play) where you are new to a town, and you collect things like bugs, fish, decor for your house, etc..

One of the longest-running groups in country music, the band started as a small-town Tennessee gospel combo in the early 1940's. In true Horatio Alger fashion, they eventually became one of the biggest-selling vocal groups in history. Although their personnel has changed many times, the Boys' signature four-part harmony singing has remained as warm, rich and familiar as ever. Here, the group assembles a top-notch collection of overtly patriotic songs that pay tribute both to American institutions and the country's indomitable spirit in times of crisis. Highlights include "G.I. Joe And Lillie," a real-life WWII love story written about tenor Joe Bonsall's parents, and the group's gorgeous a cappella reading of "The Star Spangled Banner." The Oak Ridge Boys themselves are a testament to the power of the American dream, and with COLORS they deliver a sincere and heartfelt effort that is likely to make even the most adamant cynic's chest swell with national pride. |

| | All the Colors of the Dark - $14.99 Pretty Edwige Fenech spends most of her time either naked or dazed in this tiresome tale of devil worship from the director of I Corpi Presentano Tracce di Violenza Carnale. Set in England, the film stars Fenech as a woman who is in therapy for nightmares related to the long-ago murder of her mother. Offering a cure for her woes, a neighbor takes her to a sabbat, where she is seduced and tattooed by the crazed leader of a satanic cult. Soon, the cult is commanding her to kill for them, and a strange man keeps following her around with the stiletto used to murder her mother. It doesn't make much sense and seems to drag on forever, but true Euro-buffs will love it anyway just because of the cast featuring George Hilton, Ivan Rassimov, Nieves Navarro (a.k.a. Susan Scott), Dominique Boschero, and Carla Mancini. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi |

| | Rust Colors $14.98 2010 release, the third album from the Gainesville Alt-Rockers. Bittersweet, melancholy tales of failed relationships, liquor, and vice but through it all the raised pint of camaraderie and a spark of hope. Rust Colors shows a band in fine form, confident, and still playing far beyond their bar tab suggests is reasonable. The dust and rust follows throughout but under it all is a shine waiting to be discovered. |
| | Colors Live $12.97 Victory Records progressive metallers Between the Buried and Me upped the stakes with their 2007 album, Colors, combining elements from an ever-widening net of influences that includes not just core elements of death metal and hardcore punk but sunshine pop harmonies, earnest rock balladry, and even polka music. Yet their most diverse album was also characterized by the sort of giddiness that can sometimes engulf endlessly creative and skillful musicians -- the temptation to shoehorn more and more elements into the music without due regard for the full development of those ideas. Colors Live is, for all intents and purposes, Colors transposed to the live setting. The crowd is either quiet and respectful or, more likely, passed over for the pristine audio quality of the soundboard. Colors Live could just about pass for a D.I.Y. studio recording; as it happens, it's a testament to Between the Buried and Me's musicianship that they've managed to replicate so much of the original recording with precision, adding only minor improvisations. On the accompanying DVD, the bandmembers' intense concentration (justified given the quality of the music) means they have little to add to the show as a visual spectacle, and the camera work focuses largely on the guitarists. ~ Dave Donnelly, Rovi |

Pocahontas - Paint With all The Colors of the Wind
Add Color....Add Life
It was beautiful- design wise, it was perfect – size wise. But, a brown dress for a bubbly four year old girl, no way; should find something in a brighter color. And then it started all over again, endless rounds of all counters at the shop to find the right color….and finally managed to get one in bright yellow. But somewhere deep down I still feel the brown one was better.
Later in the day, too tired after my weekend shopping excursion the incident got me thinking. Who decides which color is prefect for whom? Who has stereotyped pink with girls and blue with boys? Is it our loved ones, our own upbringing or conditioning to our environment?
I dwelt on the subject for sometime and realized that when our world is so colorful, who are we to decide, which color is prefect for whom. Although, most of us like to follow the ‘accepted way’ for living our lives, we cannot deny that colors have the power to affect us, mesmerize us - so why not add more colors to our lives. And no, we are not talking about another new age fad like aroma therapy or feng shui. But, as of all of us must have experienced at some point in our lives, colors have the power to make us cheerful or sad, pull us down or make us walk on air.
Transition- over the ages
As kids, a six color crayon set is what we owned; a twelve water color box was a luxury. Today kids demand a twenty four color set as their basic tool. The technological innovation over the ages has resulted in millions of shades from the three basic color- RGB. The earlier pallet of 6 basic colors (Including Black and White) has now increased to 256,000 colors on your computer screens and over 16 million colors in the latest LCD TVs. For me personally, at some point, every shade of color had a name and was not defined by digital percentages.
My own ways of adding colors to my otherwise simple lifestyle are - I have a Red Car, I carry a jazzy red color mobile (Very un-corporatish) and recently added a red handbag to my wardrobe. In our father’s era, a car could not be anything but white. I am unable to understand, how can one drive a white or metallic gray car (no offence meant). Times have changed, if the latest unconventional car colors are anything to go by. So, why not change with time and experiment with different colors.
Culturally- colorful
Seeing is believing. You can find the most amazing colors in Rajasthan (India), from florescent turbans to ghagras in red hues. Similarly, Goa boosts of some traditional houses painted in most un-imaginable colors- green, purple, magenta, orange, pink….. Also, colors have different meaning for different countries and cultures. In India, green represents freshness, while in some parts of the world, freshness is depicted by blue color. A married woman in white is not acceptable in India, while in majority of countries the bride’s wedding dress is of white color. So, who defines….
Just the way we loose our enthusiasm and inquisitiveness when we grow up, we also loose our love for color. This stands true for working men and women. We are by nature conformist to the environment. Why not venture on the path less traveled and see what difference it makes.
Unbelievable Definitions of Colors
Earlier, all colors in the palette had a unique name. Nowadays, some adjectives have been added to define colors. Some examples are
Cheerful and Dull colors, Uni-sex colors, Un-acceptable colors, Safe and Shocking colors, Pantone colors (For printing), Day and Night colors, Joyful and Pastel colors, Soothing and Bright colors, Natural and Synthetic colors, fresh colors ….the list is endless. And, goes on to show how important colors are in our lives
Blues and Blues
The color blue is omnipresent; Most of the corporate logos, themes and websites have a higher percentage of the hue blue, or at least a tinge of blue. A blue color shirt is a must have for a working executive. So why blue the favorite color of corporate houses?
Some famous corporate logos that contain blue are:
IBM, HP, DELL, SAP, GE, Walmart, Citibank, Bank of America, Philips, Samsung, Nokia, American Express, Jet Airlines, Pepsi, Ford, BMW, Honda…the list is endless.
This is what www.about.com says about the color itself.
"Calm and Cool: Blue is calming. It can be strong and steadfast or light and friendly. Almost everyone likes some shade of the color blue."
Personally I feel, the favorite color of men is blue and as most of the organizations are headed by men their obvious choice is blue. But lately, lots of organizations have started experimenting. IDBI, Coffee Café Day and ICICI are just some of the examples.
So, let’s shun preconceived notions about colors and let colors be exactly what they are… colors. Let it be a matter of choice or what one is comfortable with. You can add color to your life by adding color to your wardrobe, crockery or maybe a red color couch in your home.
Question everything e.g. why we use only white paper? Break free- use orange to send out a resume. Go ahead… have fun.
