After a humans head has been removed can it stay alive for 15 seconds or 10 minutes?

Im asking because i always thought it was 15 seconds but I was recently told it was closer to 10 minutes

I don't know who told you 10 mins, but just use your common sense. Try to measure how long you can hold your breath. Do you get anywhere close to 10 mins? Even a minute is pretty good. And that is with all of you intact, no loosing all blood and going into shock and so on.

The last gasp of the Mitchell Trio is a surprisingly lively affair. Despite the fact that only Mike Kobluk was left of the original members, they sound very good on this live recording. You can easily detect the emergence of John Denver as the group's frontman, and one surmises that if the Mitchell Trio had stayed together this process would have continued to the point where it would have been John Denver and his backup singers. Still, there is enough interplay here to make it a legitimate band album. Unlike the original members of the band Denver was a gifted lyricist, and the first recording of his song "Leavin' On A Jet Plane" is a highlight of this recording. Kobluk, on the other hand, has no solo turns on this album and has been relegated to a background role. New member David Boise got his first and last solo turn on the old Appalachian ballad "Coal Tattoo" and held his own on the lovely harmonies of "Cindy's Cryin'". Based on that slim evidence he was an able performer with a fine voice, and his subsequent failure to ever make another record is somewhat mysterious. Most of the material on Alive! is political, and though it is naturally dated now it is still obvious how effective songs like "Adam's Rib" once were. (This is a relative thing, of course - political folk music had moved on by 1965, and The Fugs could draw a bigger crowd than the Mitchell Trio.) Alive! is a rarity now and was not widely promoted when it was new, since by the time it was released Kobluk had left the group. Denver and David Boise toured for a while as The Mitchell Trio with new member Mike Johnson, but after a short period they dropped the Mitchell name and called themselves Denver, Boise, and Johnson. ~ Richard Foss, RoviPerformers: Paul Prestopino - 5-string Bass, Banjo, Guitar; Bob Hefferan - Banjo, Guitar; Jakub Ander - Guitar; John Denver - Guitar, Guitar (12 String), Vocals; Michael Kobluk - Vocals; Bill Lee - Bass, Guitar (Bass)

When someone describes a CD as Chinese music, the question becomes: what kind of Chinese music? Instrumental or with vocals? Traditional Chinese music, or modern Chinese pop? Of course, modern Chinese pop is far from one-dimensional; some of it is very bubblegum, and some of it is a lot meatier and much more substantial. Alive is definitely an example of Chinese pop that has substance, not to mention a sense of adventure. In some cases, Chinese pop sounds a lot like American pop except for the fact that it is performed in Chinese; if Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson sang in Chinese, they would be perfect for the more bubblegum, Radio Disney-ish side of the Chinese pop scene. But Alive is nothing like that. This is modern Chinese pop that gets a lot of inspiration from traditional Chinese music (including Buddhist music), and female singer Sa Dingding also draws on non-Chinese influences such as funk and electronica (including trip-hop). This 2008 release is a perfect example of the east merging with the west musically, but again, Alive isn't trying to be American pop (or British pop) with Chinese lyrics; Dingding is obviously well aware of the rich history of traditional Chinese music, and that influence serves her well even though she isn't a traditional singer herself. This memorable outing makes it clear that the expressive Dingding is both a risk-taker and an artist of depth. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi

It's easy to be skeptical of reunions of classic rock bands, especially when they're lacking such crucial members as the group's two lead singers and songwriters. There have been plenty of embarrassing reunions of this nature -- ranging from Creedence Clearwater Revisited to the David Byrne-less Heads -- so the initial prospect of the Cars getting back together without their frontman and songwriter Ric Ocasek and the deceased Ben Orr doesn't seem enticing, or even logical. But Cars guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes do something unexpected for the New Cars, their cleverly named reunion of 2006: they hired a strong personality to fill the shoes of Ocasek. They've brought in Todd Rundgren, a pop maverick and chameleon who never quite ran in the same circles as the Cars -- his late-'70s arena rock band Utopia occasionally played shows with the Cars, but he never had the same quirky, nervy new wave sensibility of Ocasek -- to front the band, and he in turn brought in Utopia's bassist Kasim Sulton and Tubes drummer Prairie Prince to fill out the lineup. Rundgren smartly treats this gig as work-for-hire and fits into the requirements of the job instead of trying to bend the Cars to fit his style. He's always been a musical magpie, piecing together elements from other artists as either homage or parody, and he easily blends into the Cars' sound, as the 2006 album It's Alive proves. Essentially a live album with three bonus tracks, this record doesn't stray from the original recordings, nor does it improve on them, but the band is surprisingly natural and enjoyable. Without Ocasek as frontman, it's possible to really appreciate what Easton and Hawkes brought to their band; the blend of guitar and synth make this unmistakably the sound of the Cars. Prince and Sulton give the band a slightly heavier backbeat than the original Cars and Rundgren manages to capture Ocasek's cadences without mimicking him -- he serves the song, and he certainly helps this set be thoroughly enjoyable. A couple of Todd songs are thrown in for good measure -- a nice reading of "I Saw the Light" that's trumped by an excellent "Open My Eyes" -- and the new song "Not Tonight" shows up in both live and studio incarnations, and it's quite good in both, a good replication of the classic Cars sound and Rundgren's impish humor. Two other new studio recordings are here -- a slow-rolling ballad called "Warm" and an insistent anthem called "More," both of which sound like fusions of Cars and Utopia from 1982, which is hardly a bad thing -- and they're good enough to suggest that far from being just an oldies act, this New Cars could come up with a nifty little album if they choose to follow up their 2006 tour with a real record. Until then, It's Alive functions as a good appetizer for the tour: it's not earth-shaking, but it's far better than nearly any other reunion of this kind, and at the very least it suggests that if you lay your money down for a night out with the New

Alexandra Billings, actress, former female impersonator, and Chicago cabaret singer, has cut her first album for Chicago's Southport with a program of 12 tunes, most of which are not among the more well-known compositions but are well suited to Billings' manner of delivery. The conviction that comes in her delivery is due in no small part because these tunes, according to Billings, best describe her life that has been anything but neat and tidy. Her voice can be sassy and bouncy as on the album's kick-off medley of "Rhythm' and "I Got Rhythm." Poignancy to the point of desperation is heard on the medley "It's Too Late" and "Holding Back the Years." This set would have been the highlight of the album if it weren't for the loud, overbearing piano of Gino De Luca. Billings worries about going through life unrecognized in "No One Knows Who I Am." She is genuinely sincere on "Let the River Run" and imaginative on an unusually gentle rendition of "Goin' out of My Head." On the latter, Mike Staron's alto is prominent. The humor of cabaret is found on "Being Alive" characterized as the statement of her philosophy. That philosophy, as it turns out, is to be "rich, famous, and powerful" and to get to that state of being as quickly as possible. However, this tune and "Fifty Percent" have language that may offend some. True, risqué has always been part of the cabaret tradition. But the words used in these songs cross the line. Being Alive is a very personal statement, not only with the stories told by the songs on the play list, but in the revelations in the liner notes. Among other things, Billings informs that she has AIDS (which she is fortunately controlling) and is married to another woman. Her vocal performances and true confessions liner notes give new meaning to the phrase "letting it all hang out". ~ Dave Nathan, RoviPerformers: Alexandra Billings - Vocals (Background); Jennifer Bradley - Vocals (Background); Tecla Annes - Violin; Gordon Bazali - Trumpet; Jim Cox - Bass; John Magnan - Bass; Harold Morrison - Drums; Eric Schneider - Saxophone;

Dead Alive

Dead Alive

$9.56

Rated: UNRSynopsis: Possibly the goriest movie ever made, New Zealand's zombie-fest Dead Alive offers an outrageous combination of extreme violence and black comedy that satirizes motherly love -- all while spewing vast quantities of bodily fluids across the screen. Director Peter Jackson made the transition to Hollywood with this smart and squirm-inducing 1993 cult hit, following it up with more mainstream efforts, including the critical success Heavenly Creatures. A bite from a cursed rat monkey turns smothering Mum (Elizabeth Moody) into a ravening creature of the undead, creating romantic and housekeeping difficulties for mild-mannered mama's boy Lionel (Timothy Balme). Before long, hordes of local citizens have been turned into bloodthirsty ghouls, leading inevitably to the climactic orgy of dismemberment and disemboweling that industriously uncovers new uses for many common household items. The film's sly employment of movie clichés coupled with a subtly retro look heighten the unreality, making the carnage more cartoonish than disturbing. While not for the squeamish, Dead Alive will more than satisfy viewers who like their horror laced with a gross-out sense of humor. Amy RobinsonDirector Peter Jackson's second feature cheerfully trumps the gross-out quotient of his splatterfest debut, the appropriately named Bad Taste. The tone is cartoonishly comic, and the premise is simple: The village dweeb (Timothy Balme) is trying to maintain a budding romance with the sweet Paquita (Diana Penalver) while concealing the fact that his overbearing mum (Elizabeth Moody, in an amazing good-sport performance) is a flesh-eating zombie. (She owes her condition to a bite from a "Sumatran Rat Monkey" at the local zoo.) Complicating matters even further is Les, a greedy uncle (Ian Watkin), who suspects that his sister has died and is eager to occupy her elegantly furnished Victorian mansion. The climax is a housewarming party Les throws to celebrate his "inheritance;" what he really gets is his comeuppance, thanks to his sister and her similarly afflicted zombie pals, who burst out of their basement prison to turn the guests into appetizers. Our hero finally cuts a wide swath through the zombie party crashers with the help of a rotary blade lawn mower, leaving the house awash in blood and body parts in order to save his romance. As a heavy metal singer, you know you've truly left your mark on the genre when your vocal style becomes instantly recognizable. And Udo Dirkschneider is certainly one such singer. Although he'll forever be best known as the frontman for German headbangers Accept (during their successful early- to mid-'80s run, which yielded such classic albums as Restless and Wild and Balls to the Wall), he has been a solo artist for far longer. And the 2008 double-disc live set, Mastercutor: Alive (credited to U.D.O.), touches equally upon the many eras of Dirkschneider's career. Recorded while supporting the 2007 U.D.O. studio release, Mastercutor, this 26-track set proves that even without Accept, Dirkschneider can still deliver the goods on the concert stage. Standouts include a multitude of Accept classics, such as "Midnight Mover," "Metal Heart," "Balls to the Wall," and "Fast as a Shark" (the latter track of which is often pinpointed to as the birth of thrash metal). But you'll also find such solo U.D.O. compositions as the title track from Mastercutor and "Animal House," as well as lesser-known Accept material ("Breaker," "Princess of the Dawn," "Winter Dreams," "Living for Tonite," etc.). Mastercutor: Alive was also issued as a DVD at the same time as the audio CD, so select wisely before plunking down your hard-earned cash. ~ Greg Prato, RoviPerformers: Tony Tome - Cables; Udo Dirkschneider - Vocals; Igor Gianola - Guitar; Stefan Kaufmann - Guitar; Fitty Wienhold - Bass

Do you think it is possible that Maddie is Alive and she has been adopted ?

Do you think this is likely and that the New Parents are hiding her until the campaign quietens down.
They could be waiting for her appearance to change before they take her out publicly.!
Thanks for all the great answers !
I am trying to keep the hope alive for Madeleine she deserves to live.
Thanks Laddie !!!

Three options exist lassie,

1. she is dead (probable).
2. she is still being held by an unknown party for an unknown reason (ransom or other).

and yes,its a long shot but there is always :

3. That she is alive and in the care of either the kidnapper or illegally adopted parents who are praying for all the media attention to go away... so they can raise her as there own.

My heart tells me that there is a great deal more to this situation then we have so far discovered... but my gut tells me she is dead. I do hope my gut is wrong this time and that your hypothesis is correct.
