Aging Graying Thin
Aging Graying Thin
solution to hair thinning and breaking?

I have been noticing that my hair is thinning in the front and breaking and splitting. i had beautiful thick hair until the age of 23 when i started noticing my hair coming out in combs and when i run my fingers through it. it is not hereditary becuz my mom had full head of hair until she reached 50s after wards she started perming it alot and it grew thinner. I am jamaican and indian, so full hair is in my genes. I was stressed at a time and i also have gray hairs. i am a 25 yrs old female.

can any one tell me what i should use to get my hair healthy and strong again? herbal remedies, or pills or something? should i use rogain for women?
what did you use? please share.
thanks

make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet. stress is deterimental to your hair, my hair fell out by the handfulls while going thru a stressful divorce but i know sometimes it is hard to advoid stress sometimes.

Retooling for an Aging America (Hardcover)

Retooling for an Aging America (Hardcover)

$29.65

It is funny to think that eventually nursing homes will be largely populated by people named "Heather," but it is not funny to think about the ramifications of the graying of America for health care. Given that baby boomers are the next to receive elder care, this report finds that the health system is not prepared to meet their specific health needs and expectations. Many professionals have received little or no training in geriatric care, and caregivers (families or paid staff) are even less likely to know how to maintain the health and dignity of their aging loved ones. This report supports the notion that policymakers and administrators have very little time to prepare the workforce for the first of the 78 million boomers who will turn 65 in 2011; high-quality training should be immediate and the quality of health care jobs related to the elderly needs to be improved. Aging Our Way (Mixed media product)

Aging Our Way (Mixed media product)

America is graying: people are living longer, and our population is aging. Between now and 2030, the number of people in the U.S. over the age of 65 is expected to double, and the number of people over 80 is expected to almost triple. Aging Our Way follows thirty elders (ages 85-102) living alone, at home, to understand how they create meaningful lives in old age. Drawing on the latest interdisciplinary scholarship on aging, Meika Loe examines how the very old navigate the challenges of loneliness, disability, and loss, while staying healthy, connected, and comfortable. Whereas many popular books approach old age as a social problem and old people as dependent, depressed, and disabled, Aging Our Way views them as they really are, actively negotiating aging, ageism, and health. Many self-help books revolve around successful or productive aging, but rather than focus on the holy triumvirate of diet, exercise, and medicine to defy age, the elders in this book mobilize a much wider range of resources. In their own voices, we hear how the oldest old achieve comfort and quality of life by striving for continuity, touch, connections, support, control, dignity, learning, and new challenges. In many ways, these elders are role models: they represent the vast majority of Americans who hope to and are currently aging in their own homes and communities.

Attempts to understand the aging process have generated a great number of theories but few practical therapies. Traditional therapies treat age-related diseases such as cancer and arthritis but do not reverse the aging process itself. A common trend in gerontology is to search for genes that have a demonstrable effect on lifespan, the so-called longevity genes. Many such genes have been identified, and although the manipulation of these genes does not stop the aging process, they provide many valuable insights into the cellular mechanisms of aging. More recently, interest has turned to the use of cloning technology, stem cell analysis, and genetic manipulation in order to produce an effective rejuvenation therapy for cells and the body as a whole.Aging, Revised Editiondescribes the field of gerontology and the many theories that scientists have developed over the years to explain the age-related changes that occur in nearly all animals. This edition—now with full-color photographs and line drawings—has been extensively revised and expanded and features three new chapters on aging. Coverage includes practical insight on the ways in which humans age, how the aging process has changed over the past thousand years, theoretical aspects of rejuvenation, and exciting studies and effective treatments for Alzheimer`s, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis.

Return of the Thin Man

Return of the Thin Man

After taking several years off, Noble Watts returned in 1987 with Return of the Thin Man. Instead of following through on his storming, honking '50s and '60s R&B, Watts decided to take things in a different direction, toning things down a bit and concentrating on mellow grooves. There are a couple of uptempo workouts, of course, but the songs that make a lasting impression on Return of the Thin Man are the slower, conversational pieces that are warm, relaxed and friendly. It's the sound of an aging master who has found strength in maturity and isn't afraid to celebrate that fact. ~ Thom Owens, RoviPerformers: Bryan Bassett - Guitar; Scott Corwin - Drums; Otis Glidewell - Sax (Baritone); Bob "Rattlesnake" Greenlee - Bass; Ernie Lancaster - Guitar; Glen Lee - Organ; Taj Mahal - Guitar; Jan Pattishall - Trombone; Bruce Staelens - Trumpet; Noble "Thin Man" Watts - Sax (Baritone), Sax (Tenor), Vocals

How much older of age do you think is appropriate to date a 23 year old man?

I like this young man but he is 23 and I'm 44. I have been told that I look like I'm in my late 20's. He thought I was at least 28. My 17 year old son's friends think I look good but to asure you I would never date one of my son's friends. But I met this guy at a church and I think he likes me too. Do you think I'm to old to go out with him. I am young at heart. I'm thin I have no wrinkles I have long hair with natural black no gray yet. He is so handsome and he does look older than his age, actually I thought he was older at least 27. Please tell me what you think! Thank you!!

Well, I'm 35 and my boyfriend is 23....so go for it! You're both adults. If you both consent, to hell with what anyone else thinks. I met my boyfriend two years ago and my mother just hates it!! But, she has to endure because we're about to have a child together (any day now). I'm not ashamed to admit that I initially pursued him because he was hot! I don't regret any of it either.

A word of advice though: the age difference will crop up, no matter how hard you try to ignore it. I'm not just talking about what other people will say. It will crop up between the two of you. There are just some things you can't change and the big one is that you have way more life experience than he does, no matter how mature he may be. How each of you handles these moments will determine whether or not a relationship will work....along with all the other relating factors. Age difference doesn't have to be an obstacle if handled with care. I've had to remind myself on many occasions that I used to be his age and I used to think or act as he does. I can't change him...he's going to things his way...after all that's how we all learn.
The very fact that he reminds me of myself at that age is one of the reasons I love being around him. It makes me feel understood and not so alone in the world. I never had that with any other man.
